All of the dishes are full of flavour with fresh ingredients and generous servings. Right off the main street with plenty of parking. Toilets available with an outdoor seating area for summer months. Quality of the food was excellent. The sweet potato, ginger, and coconut soup was amazing! Fajitas were tasty, and a huge portion. The Mac n cheese was delicious - and enough to feed two. Chicken and chips, parmesan fries, and onion rings - all fantastic. The special was chicken and haggis pie. It was tender, moist, with some very tasty haggis. Recommended! Our waitress was lovely, and so friendly and helpful. We were celebrating a birthday and they had no problem in bringing out our little cake, with candles, and singing happy birthday. So nice. Prices were very reasonable. Large glass of wine was just £6. Cans of coke/zero just £2.40. mains from £13-£18. Well worth a visit, and we'll be back! Visited the Carnock Inn yesterday, for lunch, with my cousin. As usual, the service was first class - pleasant and friendly, and the food was excellent. We could hardly have asked for better. However, also as usual, the place was very cold. Both doors to the restaurant were wide open, with draughts and generally a very cool atmosphere. I am from North Ayrshire so, normally, when I visit here (twice a year), I have my dog with me, and we eat in the bar (no dog on this occasion). I did, though, go to the gents, in the bar. It was absolutely baltic! Had the dog been with us, we simply could not have eaten here. The owners of this excellent establishment really have to address the issue of heating. For example, in the restaurant, I couldn't seeing any form of heating, except a wood burner-type stove, which wasn't lit. It's such a shame that a great lunch is spoiled by the customers being cold. I had been recommended this place and it was my first and last visit. The food was poor, previously frozen watery fish, served with chips out of a packet and frozen peas. I should have saved myself the petrol and taken a basket down the freezer aisle at aldi. The atmosphere is non existent in the dinning room (maybe the bar is better), with a old people's home vibe. They attempted to give it a bit more of a buzz by blaring competing music from both the desk in the corner and the kitchen, where it sounded like the party was happening. The whole place just feels grubby so don't think we caught the place on a bad day. Really amazing food, nice pub/restaurant and great service. After a good few years of driving past and saying "we must try in there sometime." Today we did and can say we weren't disappointed. The staff member in the bar was cheerful, pleasant and helpful. The Chef also popped into the dining area to ask if all was ok. We had the Lasagne and the chicken and ham schnitzel which were very tasty and a decent sized portion. For dessert we both had the apple and sultana crumble which I can honestly say is one of the best I've had in a long time. All in all a very nice Tuesday lunch.
