Called for Sunday roast dinner today where we received a warm welcome in this clean and tidy establishment. The roast pork and beef were very tender and flavoursome, roast potatoes amazing, a good variety of vegetables, cauliflower cheese delicious, couldn't fault anything. Dad had the salmon which he said was the best he could remember. The wonderful people running this establishment really care about what they do and made this a five star experience. We booked in advance for Sunday lunch - we worth it! The staff are lovely and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Food was lush, great value for for money- 3 courses for £30 🙌highly recommend a visit 🥰and it’s super dog friendly 🐾 Absolutely lovely little waitress nothing was too much trouble we felt very valued and welcomed. The fish and chips were delicious. Just popped in for lunch as we are staying near there soon. Lovely pub, welcoming, friendly staff, great food. Very dog friendly - brought treats and water for our dog. Would absolutely recommend. We had the battered fish and tartar sauce sandwich and pulled pork sandwich and chips both piping hot and delicious. Served with a little bowl of fresh salad. We were staying at the nearby Hillside caravan site and had seen that the Dog & Gun in Knayton did a street food special menu on Wednesdays. It looked very tempting, so we decided, why not? We hadn’t booked but thought if we arrived shortly after opening, we’d be ok and we were, but only just. And special thanks to the staff for squeezing us in as the pub was fully booked for dining that evening, so in future, we’ll be sure to make a reservation. We had our Jack Russell terrier with us but had checked the pub was dog-friendly. We were offered a bowl of water for her, which was very thoughtful. We’d ordered drinks as we arrived, and they were soon brought to our table along with menus. The Cruzcampo was especially nice. We placed our order for a beef burger and the slow roast sticky ribs. Both soon arrived, and the meals were very tasty, plus the portion sizes were good. Some salad with the burger would have been nice, but other than that, the food and service were excellent. We’ll look forward to returning and trying something from the normal menu, but the street food is certainly worth a try. Just been for lunch with friends, we had Sunday dinner and it was beautiful very tasty. The lady owner, her son and staff were so welcoming and lovely. It's the first time visiting as we're in the area. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for making our visit a fabulous one. Outstanding Sunday Lunch. Very welcoming hosts. The team are well organised and very polite in taking orders and serving your food. Four different Sunday lunches, roast beef cooked to 'well done on our request' not a problem. Lamb shank, pork dinner and chicken dinner. All well cooked. For pudding X2 triffles, caramel apple pie with custard and a lemon parfait. Also super. Its a gem of a village pub. Fantastic Sunday Lunch and service and welcome to match. You'll not be dissapointed, book a table. It is our first meal under the new management. The food is nice. I'm very impressed with the kid's meal: 2 big sausages and mash, peas and gravy. I know they are very simple but the quality were really good that my kids ate all. I had a steak pie which is really tasty and my husband had a burger which he wished the portion to be bigger as it is delicious. Our desserts are yummy too. Only downside is the slow service. It took 45 mins for the first course to arrive though the restaurant wasn't full. However I will definitely come back.
