It needs more sign posting! What a treat this was, considering it had been where rubbish was deposited, the volunteers transformed it remarkably well. The sound of the tinkling stream, waterfall and well planted shrubbery and plants is truly amazing. It has to be said, I found it rough underfoot, but I managed. Nowhere did I read we needed VERY sensible footwear, be aware, it is ALL uphill, and downhill on the return. I was wearing trainers thank goodness. The carvings, intimate little corners, pebble collections all made the visit wonderful. Truly lovely. Il Giardino Della Valle is an absolute gem hidden away in the Italian countryside. It's quite small but the tiny roads through the lucious greenery are fun and it's a good place to see new plants if you live far from the equator. This was the most memorable place from my trip to Italy overall. We stumbled upon this by chance, and it was the highlight of our visit in Cernobbio. A peacful and well cared-for lush and wild garden, with so many beautiful spots. this is how my dream looks like. Not well signed and if coming by car, best to leave the vehicle in Cernobbio and walk the 500m up the road north to its entrance. Sweet little place with flowers, art pieces and quiet paths.
