Man made in the 19th century but still one of the most scenic spots in Wales, lovely spot to go for a walk or run/cycle for the more energetic! Took these reflective photos on boxing day! Great place to spend the day! There are a couple of blue badge bays in the smaller car park where the cafe/bike hire and bird hide are, £4 all day unless you're an RSPB member, then it's reduced! The big car park is a bit further on, same price, more blue badge bays there as well as access to trails and picnic benches, not all trails are easy footing/ wheelchair friendly down that side! There is also an adventure play area for the younger ones just off the car park. We decided to stick to walking next to the lake for ease of the wheelchair, the gradient wasn't bad at all, a few places to stop and take pictures and enjoy the views and peace, and listen to the birds, barely passed anyone considering it was busy! There are kayaking and water sports down on the lake, and there looks to be hire places from what we could see. When we decided that there was no way we could walk the whole lake, we sensibly made our way back to the car, had our picnic, and enjoyed the rest of the lake with a leisurely drive around it! Beautiful views, easy to get around and staff were friendly and had a great coffee in the shop ☺️ Loved the bird but could have Saturday there all day watching the different birds Lovely place only visited for a few hours the weather wasn’t the best but we stopped to have a picnic in the car & we used the toilets which were spotless. We well be back in the summer hopefully on a nice warm day. Came on a wet and windy day during half term to try and complete some geocaches. The red trail is currently closed and there doesn’t seem to be any mention of this on the website so had some disappointed children. But other than that (which can’t be helped) the car parking was very good and reasonably priced. The trails were well sign posted and toilets clean. Did the wildlife walk but no indication of how long the walk was and a distinct lack of signage had me frequently wondering if I was going the correct way. Plus it is mostly uphill part of which was extremely steep. Great view though from the Campbell viewpoint. Beautiful place for a day out. The weather wasn't great but I had a two hour walk and probably got 1/5 the way around the lake it's a lot bigger than you think! Definitely bike it next time. There are other walks to do though closer to the dam. The hide was fantastic and saw lots of different birds I could have sat there all day. The dam is just immense and stunning. I can imagine it's an amazing place on a sunny day having a picnic. Parking costs £2 for RSPB members all day. If I live closer there I'll be there everyday for walking or just relax watch and listen to the sound of nature, this is my top of the best place to visit of you love nature, the beautiful scenery here is amazing and its worth a visit no matter how tiring a long drive, once you're there it felt like heaven 👍👌💚💙💝 Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
