A delightful old style pub with a warming open fire in the immediate bar area in cooler seasons. The staff are very friendly and helpful and appreciate a furry pup or two. The menu has a very good range including vegetarian options, with thoughtful dishes for both meat/fish and vegetarian ideas with generous portions. The decor is in keeping with the building and the seating is comfortable. This is a place to come for a pint or two or a fine meal. Stopped here about 3.30pm on a Friday last minute. We were seated at a table near the open fire, absolutely atmosphere. We came for my daughter's 1st birthday with my 2.5yo son. The team were absolutely amazing, so accommodating and caring. Couldn't do enough. I didn't get names but the waitress was so brilliant with the children, the bartender was quick and helped out with menu's etc, we even briefly met the chef who was too. Also, during our visit I believe there were a few regulars in who were also lovely. The food was delicious, every meal hot, fresh and homemade. To add to this, we discovered children ate free with a paying adult throughout weekdays at a certain time (check with pub for these details), but happened to be exactly when we arrived. My son also had a delicious ice cream dessert - only vanilla but perhaps the best vanilla ice cream I've ever tasted. Not every country pub offering quality homemade food is so accommodating of families, particularly with young children, so I very highly recommend and we'll be back! area outside to eat, food affordable and very tasty. You get enough on your plate to fill you up. Food came soon and good wifi here. Very tasty, would recommend. Definitely coming back. As a family of 4 we visited the Red Lion today and had a fab meal😋. Clean plates! The service was fab too. Very accommodating when we asked for something that wasn't on the menu. We recommend the Red for family meals and events. You won't be disappointed. Oh by the way, they also serve beers We came here for lunch yesterday as we were staying around 5mins away. The pub was nice and cool to escape the heat outside, really dog friendly which meant the dogs were cool too! We had the mussels and steak sandwich from the lunch menu and homemade cheesecake for dessert, all tasted amazing and the young girl looking after us was too! decorated and beautiful atmosphere too! Highly recommend a visit if you’re visiting the area. Popped in for lunch today, very welcoming, warm and friendly atmosphere and food was lovely. Me and my partner enjoyed and will definitely be returning. My partner enjoyed the steak and Ale pie, I had the garlic creamy Mushrooms and the steak sandwich all cooked to perfection. Thank you We popped into the Red Lion on a wet Saturday. It was around midday so very quiet but the welcome we received was very warm and friendly. The open fire was roaring making the pub feel all cosy despite the weather being so dismal! The service was very quick and the food was delicious. All the staff were lovely. We are keen to go again for Sunday lunch now. A definite gem in the Vale ! We had previously popped into the Red Lion for a drink and after spending a afternoon with wonderful service from Wendy Woo, we ordered chicken wings and truffle fries which were absolutely delicious and were told about their Sunday roast which we booked in for today. We'd been looking forward to it all week after such a experience last time and it was wonderful! We'd booked in for 5pm after work which was fabulous to still get a roast dinner at this time and the lamb was delicious as were all the trimmings. They were also kind enough to accommodate some changes to items on our meal when we ordered which was a touch. This is a wonderful cosy pub with a atmosphere, a soundtrack and some of the most welcoming service we've both had. Again, brilliant service from Wendy Woo who is an absolute gem and we already can't wait to pop back. Thanks so much to the team for another visit!
