We are staying here in October so at the end of Camping season, not alot of people here but I can imagine this place full during the summertime. They have thought of almost everything, good toilets and showers, a hairdressing room, a bunk house with bunk beds, a lovely living room with TV and couches, a kitchen with full amenities and a separate kitchen hut which has the most amazing views if you want to have a coffee at their coffee bar area. Definitely worth going here. Stayed in a pitch and everything was Perfect. Very good showers and clean facilities. Location close to the castle and the centre. Very lovely people st the reception and overall one of the best campsites we had on our trip so far Excellent site. Has all the you could need eg. Washing machines, dryer, iron and board...washing up sinks. Toilets and showers which are immaculate. Washing lines. Dog fouling area. The list goes on. Service is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble. Cant recommend highly enough. Great campsite. Good location for a walk into Stornoway and access to local amenities Diane is a great host and the are great if you are camping, staying in the bunkhouse or motorhome/caravan. Stayed for 4 days in October. Excellent site. I was cycling and camping and was really impressed with the at Laxdale. I got a warm welcome from Diane when I arrived and was able to choose my own pitch. The ladies' vanity room was an unexpected bonus; it was great to be able to blow dry my hair! The campers' kitchen was excellent too, with seating, a kettle, fridge etc. Also, there were a few picnic tables; ideal for cyclists who are travelling light. I have another bike trip planned and will certainly stay at Laxdale again. Great site. The best we found on the island of Lewis and Harris. Very efficient staff. Diane is very accommodating and will do all she can to help people. Clean facilities, good showers, toilets, dish washing areas. Laundry with two washing machines and a dryer. There is also a drying green for hanging your washing out. There is even a ladies vanity room with two hairdryers. The site is near to a bus stop and a short drive to visit different tourist spots. Diane was such a friendly welcoming host - a real gem. We were lucky to get a Wigwam at short notice and had a very comfortable stay in our well equipped Wigwam with great facilities.
