We visited the restaurant a couple of times during our stay in Ernst. Lovely food, seasonal mushroom sauce with one day, fab Caesar salad with chicken the other. the beer was excellent as was the local Riesling . Friendly and efficient staff, casual happy atmosphere. We keep going back every few years to see if it has changed and it only seems to get worse. If you can get a seat outside, there are a few tables with a view of the Mosel. Kids can play outside which is nice. They offer axe at very particular times which is fun and not all that easy to find in the area, but we've had better. The butcher is very nice. We like to go to the shop outside of the restaurant. Our last experience in the restaurant was so dreadful, I doubt we'll be going back. It was crazy expensive and for no reason at all. The inside of the restaurant is characterless, cold and resembles a large hospital cafeteria. The is one of the most expensive on the Mosel! AND it wasn't even good! If ya can't do a decent schnitzel, ya might as well just pack it in. I'm not even really all that picky. I might recommend it if you don't mind paying high prices and or you have large dogs or unruly children. To be fair, the place is packed, but we can't figure out why! The service has never been great either, but that seems normal in Europe. Came here for dinner on our last night and wished we found it sooner. No reservation required but it was fairly busy, despite this we were not kept waiting. The serving staff were very attentive. Chicken was the best I had all week and the side salad was beaut. The portions are a good size. The warm chocolate pudding with ice cream and cream was absolutely delicious. If I could give more stars I would! Good service, good food, hell of a view!
