One of the Top rateds in Chauzon Frequently mentioned in reviews: Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Rating: ★★★★ Our recent visit to Isla Cool Douce, a privately owned and activity center located in the city of Chauzon, was nothing short of spectacular. We booked a trip for four (two adults and two children) which cost us 108 euros, excluding the 5 euro parking fee. The price included a refreshing cold drink after the trip, which was a touch. The company is run and owned by people from Belgium who speak fluent French, English, and Dutch. This multilingual service was particularly impressive, as even the safety instructions were given in multiple languages. The trip started at eleven, but we were advised to be present fifteen minutes in advance. We were provided with life-jackets and a waterproof container for our valuables, which was very thoughtful. A Land Rover then drove us 15 minutes upstream to our canoes. The trip we embarked on was approximately 8 km or 5 miles, taking about 2 to 3 hours depending on your skill and stamina. The river was calm and meandered beautifully from Balazuc to Chauzon. There were several small rapids, but the water was shallow and if you got stuck, it was easy to exit the canoe and reset its position. One thing to note is the importance of bringing water and food for the descent, as the sun can be quite intense. There are plenty of shaded areas for breaks, which was a relief. The views from the river were absolutely breathtaking, with gorgeous nature and tranquil waterways. It was an ideal activity for both solitude and family bonding. Upon returning to the beach, we enjoyed our complimentary soda and took advantage of the numerous activities listed on their website. These included two beautiful private beaches in the middle of a protected and classified natural park, hammocks in the shade, pedalos, canoes, and Stand Up Paddle for rent, a snack bar, a playground, volleyball and ping pong, and a shaded picnic zone. The swimming area was supervised by qualified lifeguards, which added an extra layer of safety. In conclusion, our experience at Isla Cool Douce was a memorable one. The trip was a highlight, offering a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. The staff's attention to detail, the range of activities, and the stunning natural surroundings all contributed to a fantastic day out. We highly recommend Isla Cool Douce for a fun-filled family adventure. €24 for a family access, with a pretty rude security guy who only takes cash (no debit card payment for entrance). LImited parking on site (we had to aprk further up the road), the 'beach' is ok, quite stoney. The river is nice, cool and shallow as well as deeper parts. Quite busy and plenty of canoes passing by but thars ok. Not much shade where we were but we had a parasol. The picture was taken just after the 'private' which is also accesible and probably free. Great place to spent a day (and return for another one). There is a lot of space with shade which is very nice. You can swim in the Ardèche or in de swimming pools. There is also a restaurant with serves good food for a decent price. The entry fee is 5 euro per persons (2021) and another 5 euro if you want to park your car on site. They also have kayaking on the Ardèche, the tour from Lanas back to Isla cool douce is so much better then the ones that go under the Pont d’Arc. This a very beach, excellent for a family on a summer day. It can get hot as there is lots of sun, but the water is cool enough is be refreshing yet not too cold. Rock formations let you jump from many different heights and there are plenty of rocks for skipping. There is also the option to kayak if you would like to further explore the river. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely place to kayak or just relax and have a drink. Very environment. We where there early and had a spot under the trees near a hammock. Nice swimming in the river (bring swimming shoes because of the stones) and in the pool (tight swimsuit required) Entrance and hire for canoe or pedal boat is cash. The food in the restaurant is good and you can pay by card. Great day with the kids. Stopped for a bite and a drink, which was also great and playground for kids with 3 small swimming pool. They serve food (burgers, salads...). I could have done withtout the loud rap music...
