Summary We stayed in the le pigeonnier. The was poorly maintained and over priced. In need of a refurbishment. Furthermore the stairs are a health and safety hazard for young children and are unacceptable. Upon leaving we all had numerous bites which almost certainly are bed bugs (see photos and description ). Generally unclean and yellow stain in the middle of one of the the mattress was particularly concerning. On day of arrival we where informed that towels where not provided. In the there was several signs noting various fines for infractions including not making bed on departure, tidying appropriately, failing to recycle. The was miss advertised. At £125 a night this is atrocious Overall 1* very poor. Location The located near a main road (50m-100m approx) and a trainline. In the evening you can occasionally hear rumblings in the background. However personal this wasn't a significant issue. Location rating: 3* Site Environment (Garden) The site courtyard appears to have had a new drainage unit installed. The ground was uneven and only partial grass coverage. There are swings slides for kids but they are aged and one swing broken. Site Environment rating: 2* Welcoming & instructions & communication No personal Welcoming with poorly translated guidance (French to English). Various signs up around the to note fines for various infractions including not remaking your own bed on departure which was not communicated on the website we used (booking.com) Having raised the issue of the hot water for the the the booking website (as no other avenues of communication where identified) we received a response from owners within 24hrs which was good. However on the sencond day the water was only luke warm. On the final day the water was running as one would expect. Welcoming & instructions & communication rating: 1* Building From the outside the building looks nice. Three bedroom 2 dedicated and one on the landing. Is useful for 3 children. However The headroom in the bedrooms is less poor. I estimate 90% less than 1.8m (my approx hught ) making it challenging to put kids to bed. Stairs and banister will not meet any regulations. Then move and flex when leaning. Gaps up the banister make them dangerous to children. Plug and light switches flexed when pressed. Building Rating: 1* Cleanliness Smell- poor- a basic but important aspect. Upon arrival the smelt unpleasant requiring windows and doors to remain open. Fridge - didn't appear to be clean. Bathroom - - toilet brush dirty and sink wouldn't drain in shower mirror wonkey and mold on shower grout and corners. Bedrooms - poor- but due to carpet type not clear how clean they where. However when removing the sheets the mattress protector was dirty. On one of the single beds no mattress protector was provided and a yellow stain in the middle of the mattress. The children and myself and wife all woke up with multiple bites. There may have been mosquitos in the room but can be relatively sure they are bed bugs dut to comparisons on Google and the face we brought our pillow home and continued to be bitten. Kitchen - ok but didn't want to use anything Dining - crumbs in the dining room table Stairs carpet: generally the stairs carpet appeared to be dirty Due to the venue (old farm buildings) one could expect some degree of fly's but there appeared to be more than usual one would expect. This may be due to the proximity of the apartment we stayed in to the bin area. Cleanliness rating: 1* Furnishings General Handles on doors damaged. Radiator partially hanging off in dining room Light bulbs missing in kitchen and bathroom. Refrigerator door broken Loose/wobbly sockets Beds. Bedding in condition see photos 2 of the single beds are on the floor Mattress on main bed sagged in typical sleeping positions. Furnishing : 1* Supplies 1/3 or a roll orlf toilet paper for 2 adults and 3 children for 2 nights . Hand towel Supplies : very 1* What a fantastic experience for us on our last day in France. To stay at this rustic farm home. The hosts,we're so hospitable and genuinely interested in each guest. The shared accommodation has own shower and handbasin but shared toilet.there is a kitchenette to prepare own meals. Having a kettle and coffee maker is a real bonus! The breakfast was great with homemade jams from local produce. Definately a place to stay at. Great B&B, run by a really lovely couple who speak English very well. Beautiful settings with lots of parking and grassy space. Perfectly located in the country side but close enough to the motorway, just 25mins from Calais ports and tunnel. They have a number of self contained gites. You can either rent the entire gites, or one of the rooms for a quick overnight B&B. Small player area & table tennis, and don't forget to say hello to the goats, chickens and little pony. Hospitality and warmth was second to none! Amazing breakfast with freshly made juices and jams. Will definitely use again.
