Nothing here today evokes Cezanne's Les Grandes Baigneuses. There is no beach. The tide is in and it is lunchtime. A few brave souls tread the new cobbles of the sea wall which extolls the dangerous rocks beyond and forbids anyone to climb upon them. The unisex toilets are open beneath the lifeguard station but the lifeguard has left the building; perhaps like Elvis. Just beyond; the Cafe advertises Frites and Moules. It's panoramic window pane cracked but not by Simon Berger it seems. The town elegantly exhibits easels of bygone scenes, the painters who once portrayed local artisans and sailors plying their trade and immortalized them with gouache and oil paint; now long gone. And yet the evocative call of the songbirds and perhaps, just perhaps the cries of the gulls and the shouts of the man whose food they are keen to sample suggests such streets are not always empty. Ah Wissant. Quelle surprise. We have been to Wissant several times in the motorhome as there is an aire de camping car on the outskirts of the village. This is the first time that we have had a walk to the and I'm sure that most of the motorhomers don't bother to visit the village or the due to the distance, as the majority of people in motorhomes are fairly elderly. It would be nice if the mairie would allow daytime motorhome parking closer to the beach, especially during the winter months when the holiday apartments are empty. Having said that, the is very nice, lots of soft sand, fossils and other artifacts to find. At present, due to the winter storms, the forest bed has become uncovered. Lovely place on the to get a waffle or ice cream 🍦 This is truly a gem! The pristine sands stretch for miles, and during low tide, the shoreline expands into a vast and inviting area. The nearby town is bustling with a variety of amenities that cater to all your needs, and finding parking is easy. It's an ideal place to take a break while traveling home, with captivating views and a tranquil atmosphere that make it a must-visit spot. Good little find while waiting for the ferry tomorrow. Camped in motor home at aire in wissant and walk down a track and then right and left will take you to the beach. Flat sandy and quite a strong current great for water sports. Enjoyed it. Town with a few restaurants . Quite busy for the size but not over ran with people would recommend. EN: Nice but sometimes not safe enough due to presence of life threatening & dangerous elements (see the marked photos, sharp iron rods are there almost camouflaged)! I am not sure the water mixing in the see how safe it is. However it's a lovely & beautiful beach. I am not sure the water mixing in the see how safe it is. However it's a lovely & beautiful beach. Chill beach. Not that crowded. Having a picnic is a great plan. Also for running or biking through the is nice. It’s a quiet small seaside town with a good sandy and attracts surfers year round. Ideal place for a night before the Eurotunnel. This is the coolest I've visited in Europe since immigrating to Europe from The Bahamas 🇧🇸. This place is a Kite and Windsurfers paradise, I must have counted 70 out there having a blast in perfect conditions. The was greatfor chilling, the boardwalk was cool and the bar is a great hangout! Gorgeous - we arrived at high tide, with not much sand available but the water very quickly started receding. Was busy but pleasant, and promenade is lovely. Not many facilities and beware if going up the big dune that there was a lot of broken glass. Nice place for enjoy nature without buildings and cars, beautiful place Limited for campervans managed to get the sprinter down But lots of narrow streets Lovely beach, clean and sandy, with a decent promenade.
