Lovely quiet place with amazing view of the waterfall. Very tranquil. You don't need to take your car through the ford water. There's a car park on the right hand side just on the bridge to cross over. Lots of wildlife in birds and red squirrels. Enjoy. 😊👌 Rutter Force is a great place to explore. The history dates back to the 16th century; it has seen service as a corn mill, a saw mill, and as a bobbin-making facility. The building is now a holiday cottage. The falls were used to generate electricity from 1926 until 1952, when the National Grid finally reached here. The power supply from the fall was, apparently, a bit hit and miss, but it was the only supply available at the time. There is a small, free roadside parking area, suitable for 2 or 3 vehicles. There is a ford to cross the river by car, and also a convenient footbridge for pedestrians. Sadly, there are no red squirrels here now... Warning. In the summer when there's been little to no rain there's no waterfall. Situated about ten miles north after leaving the M6 at junction 38, take the B6260 , sat nav setting CA16 6ES, and keep on Lane. It's best to park on the access road as the road through the ford is narrow with little or no parking. It's just a 300 yard down to the falls. More than just a dynamic waterfall, there is an old watermill complete with waterwheel and it simply takes your breath away. There are also some pretty cottages that are available to rent. The view from the footbridge is stunning but if you cross the bridge on the opposite side to the mill, follow the track down to the right which comes out at a break in the bushes right opposite the mill. Beautiful English countryside at its best. In fact, it's worth the drive north just to see this little gem. Small lane access. Only parking for 4 cars close by. Park at top of road and 300yd down. Narrow ford check depth of water leads onto byway steep rough track into next village. Worth a visit. Only a few roadside parking spots. Can drive across the ford if water level is low. across the wooden bridge to get a good view of the and waterwheel. It was absolutely beautiful. The area was really pretty and easily accessible on foot. Parking was literally round the corner but there were limited spaces. Unfortunately you couldn't around the but the view from the nearby bridge was still really good. Also there is a holiday cottage next to it where you can book to stay which is good. I would definitely recommend visiting if you're into waterfalls. Nice picture taking place i bet in the summer it would be fun in the watet A beautiful spot, well-hidden yet accessible. The is impressive, and the surrounding areas are gorgeous. Unfortunately, it was very wet when we visited, so we couldn't much. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the beautiful nature and views.
