Some nice small shops, pricy though Lovely wee place to visit 👊 Milton of Crathes hosts some brilliant car shows and other family friendly events. Plenty of parking. On other days and weekends the Milton trains may be running....yes full size steam engines. Not too far a drive from Aberdeen... Just off the road from Aberdeen to Aboyne, on the banks of the River Dee, Milton of Crathes is a cracking place to stretch your legs. The farm shop's a treat and cafe does a lovely cuppa (and dishes which I haven’t tried yet!) Perfect for a coffee and a cake, a browse of local goodies, or a unique gift and catch up with friendly staff which makes a relaxed vibe. Location's a winner, right on the Dee. Ideal for a wee stroll by the river. Beautiful scenery, a proper escape from the city, makes a perfect weekend family day out. Parking's a bit tight when it's busy but it’s all in one, Milton of Crathes is a brilliant spot. A proper Deeside representative! Highly recommended, especially for a family day out. Visited there many years ago & found handmade treasures for sale in most of the shops. Times being what they are today, very few handmade goods or treasures to be found, but there is a very well-stocked outdoor/fishing/camping/recreation outfitter, a rather bespoke Scottish gift shop, and a lovely little with curated sweets, jams, cheeses, and unique dog treats. We enjoyed our day there. Well worth a visit, Beautiful area by the river with lots of little shops to look around. Particularly liked the farm shop, selling local produce, the lady was very sweet and friendly. Milton brasserie was excellent for a bite to eat, excellent food and service Worth a visit. Interesting crafts and art to browse. Plenty of parking. Lovely food , and lovely setting. Also you can go see Crathes Castle across the street. Got directions from Google but didn’t bother my arse going. Maybe go some other day instead Beautiful spot on banks of River Dee for visiting. Nice restaurant, , old railway too. I hear they have markets first Sunday of every month. Fishing is famous here if you want to learn. Plenty jumping up to see. Hadn't booked so had to wait for about half an hour. Worth the wait though because the food was lovely. Quiet tucked away from the North Deeside road. You can stop here for some coffee or a spot of lunch. There is also a fly fishing shop, a clothes and an art gallery which showcases the best of Scottish art. It’s worth a walk up to the Crathes Castle grounds from Milton’s car park too. Good food and friendly service. Close early in afternoon. Not open for evening meals.
