Dark inside and garden at back but overgrown but friendly and satisfying home made pub food What a great find. Wanted a nice place to stop for lunch and struck lucky here. Pretty boring selection but what we had was really very good. The ploughman's lunch was beautifully presented and the Cheesecake was truly fabulous. A nice change to have sunny weather and sit out in their lovely beer garden. I would recommend here if you're in the area. Food excellent and good value - nothing too fancy, just proper pub food done well and priced fairly. Partner’s Brie and Bacon sandwich was a monster. Doorstop bread. Lots of crispy bacon and brie and a thick layer of caramelised onion. Ham egg and chips is my benchmark for a pub meal - the ham was thicker than Donald Trump and the chips were chunky, crisp and fluffy. Summer Pudding with a cow’s worth of clotted cream nearly finished me off permanently. But would be a worthy end. Pint of hazy bitter, tasty and unusual. Would happily have sunk a couple more. Decor traditional, like a pub should be. We visited the inn for some dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the lovely experience we had. The girl working at the bar was so lovely, the interior was very clean and cosy and the food was delicious! The portions were very big and at an affordable price. Definitely recommend Lovely Atmosphere, the Food was delicious at very reasonable prices and the Bar Staff and Landlady very pleasant. And exceptionally Dog Friendly. Well worth leaving our village and travelling a few miles. We visited The Chetnole Inn yesterday for lunch with friends. We received a very warm welcome from Maria. We had a hearty freshly made beef stew which was delicious followed by the best bread and butter pudding I have tasted. The pub is a wonderful traditional English pub full of character and we would recommend it for the superb food and warm hospitality.
