I visited this café/restaurant with a friend of mine during my visit to Black Forest highlands. We had coffee and German Black Forest Cake (Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte) here. Cake was delicious, and the coffee (cappuccino) was also great. The service personal was attentive and friendly. They also have a good selection of ice cream, but I didn’t try as the weather was rather cooler on that day. Great place to have a coffee or a meal. Outdoor seating area is also available. Service was a bit slow and we asked one of the staff, as he walked past, if we could order. He said, "sorry not with me", and he walked away. However it is the holiday season and a Sunday so probably they were a bit stressed. We only ordered drinks and an ice cream. The ice was very big and impressive. Overall it was fine. We enjoyed sitting outside in the wonderful weather in a lovely village. Very good ice but for whatever reason it is not possible to pay with cards, instead they have a strange automatic machine for paying cash which makes ordering super slow If you’re in Todtnau and looking for a welcoming spot to enjoy a meal, a refreshing drink, or a delicious ice cream, this is the place to be. The staff are friendly and attentive, the terrace is comfortable, and the food is always tasty — no matter what you choose from the menu. Found this restaurant and had a great meal. Really good value, good sized portions and really friendly staff. Well worth a visit. We waited for an hour and a half and never received our food. Meanwhile, other customers who arrived an hour after us were served the exact same dishes we had ordered. We asked the waitress several times for an update, and each time she simply said the food was on its way. Eventually, we saw the waitress step outside. She looked at our empty table, smiled, and said, “This is not my problem,” before cynically waving goodbye and walking away. We also ordered beers, which only arrived after 30 minutes, far too late. This experience completely disrupted our plans. We had a tightly scheduled day, and this delay threw everything off. In the end, we had to leave hungry and frustrated. Very disappointed this was not the experience we expected and certainly not acceptable service. Best Italian Ice ever. The staff are really friendly and lovely. Don’t miss it!
