I had a fantastic experience at Gortin Glen Forest Park. The park's abundance of beautiful trees and well-maintained paths really captivated me. The heart of the boasts a delightful cafe, adding to the overall charm of the place. The were easily accessible and the navigation was a breeze. Moreover, the provided ample parking facilities, which made my visit hassle-free. I even had the pleasure of spotting some deer during my walk, which added to the serene and peaceful ambiance of the park. It was truly a wonderful place to explore. I highly recommend. Drive all the up to main car n follow the trails. It's easy walk. Great mountain and Forrest view. Worth for a visit. Unfortunately there is no picnic table or rubbish bin though some chairs available along the trails. Lovely forest park! Very well maintained facilities and trails. You will need to be reasonably fit if you're gonna hike or bike this as it's mostly hilly. Great wee cafe and playground. There is also a 2km drive you can do through the and some dedicated bike trails. Two good play areas for the kids. Plenty of walks for dogs, bikes, etc. Disappointed that the "wildlife" section only had two geese in it and that they were caged in the space. The same goes with the deer section - at least it was nice to see them close up. I regularly take chopped apples for them so they're used to me now. There is one who will now eat from my hand. Absolutely amazing!! Highlight of my week. 😁 Toilets are behind the coffee shop (not signposted) The maps are somewhat difficult to read - it's not always clear which is a road and a path. Needless to say, we had to backtrack on ourselves several times. Beautiful place to visit though. Edit: I joined friends of the Glens walking group each Saturday morning and we enjoy different walks around the area having a coffee stop along the way. We then enjoy lunch in Brie's barista. A great place for a day out for adults and kids alike. Large play to keep kids entertained with a cafe beside it where you can buy refreshments, pizza, tray bakes, amongst other things. There are toilet facilities and plenty of car parking. There are different walking to do, varying in length and difficulty. See pictures for a description of each trail, estimated time they take and difficulty of trail. There is a 30 minute one which is an easier one if you have small children in tow. You can see deer on one of the walks as it passes the area they are in. All in all a fab place for a day out where all ages will find something. The is big, and if you want to see the giant,you need time to explore but definitely worth it, oh, it has toilet and dogs friendly as well 😊😊 Great place to spend time. Multiple for walks and mountain bike trail as well. The walk towards Darach the Giant, a sculpture is quite a good hike. You could even go close on that on the Darach the Giant, a sculpture with the scenic drive. But still you would have to do a steep hike to the top. Beautiful place. An established forest with very scenic trials for walkers. It has a lovely coffee shop and a excellent play area for kids. The mullaghcarn trial offers amazing view with a friendly giant to greet you at the summit.
