Well maintained paths, steep in places. Steeped in history folklore and faerie stories....sometimes combined. A faerie jockey riding for the Lord who has gambled the entire estate on the outcome of a horse race being a prime example. If your knees can cope with the climb then the views from the top are worth it. In recent times more pathways have been constructed at the top which are well maintained. Ample car parking at the bottom. Nice hike and only a short drive from Galway. Interesting things to look at along the trail. A great in a beautiful area. View from the top are stunning on a good day. There are multiple options so you can take a long or a short walk. There is good parking at the entrance and plenty of overflow options. Knockma Forest takes is several kilometres of hilly terrain meandering through the woodlands of this mythologically famous hill. The is steep in parts, but the views across a vast area of counties Galway and Mayo is worth the effort. Lovely around with family and friends. Stunning views. Really a peaceful and quiet walk. A very nice hiking loop on the with small cute statues on the way. If you’re going there at the end of the summer, you’ll find lots of blackberries, too😁 I thought it was a small but we were totally surprised with the place, wood .. trek! Definitely recommend especially with kids. Try on Sunny day for fabulous views from the top. This was a proper hike for the kids. Views are stunning, especially up the hill! Signs were easy to follow, given the you choose. Ample of space in the parking lot. It is a really charming place and the magic gets a boost by autumn weather. Just do not disturb the fairies! Such an amazing hiking location. Beautiful trees and sculptures along the trail. I would say this is not a beginners but maybe I'm out of shape lol. Loved the scenery and wish I was back there. A short but beautiful that includes magnificent trees, playful wood sculptures and lovely views. At the top, if you’re willing to explore a bit, you can find a large and quite powerful cairn, a hidden cross, and Finvarra’s Castle. The is clearly a favorite with locals. There is a short, flat option as well as longer 1-2 hr options that include moderate incline.
