The cathedral dominates the town both physically and historically. Interesting paintings of the stations of the cross and a recent new altar are but two aspects of this church. Surrounded by schools which show the importance of the diocese and archdiocese this place should be the first place to see when visiting Tuam Catholic Cathedral located at Bishop St, Tuam. Steeped in history and synonymous with St. Jarlath. Travelling through to Galway City. It was nice to stop for a while here. As many of the streets were one way, it look us a while to find it. We weren't disappointed. What a lovely Cathedral in the centre of Tuam. I'm glad we came off the road, and detoured to see this lovely place of God Passing in Tuam, to meet a Real friend, by this Cathedral, by Bus from Galway.. Is always a blessing.. Our responsible to pray, for those in need. Say, like prayer of St. Francis " Lord, make me a Channel of Thy Peace.. where there is... hmm. 💛🙏❤️💛🙏💛 Great Cathedral. Arguably better than the one in Galway city as they have very futuristic doors that open with the touch of a button. Stained glass is also very vibrant. Beautiful Cathedral. Always kept in wonderful condition, Thanks to all the volunteers. Quiet and relaxing. There are two Cathedrals in Tuam, while qualifies it to be The Smallest City in the World. Beautiful building! But...to truly appreciate the depth of things, one must first visit and learn about the Children's Burial Ground Memorial in the southwest part of town to understand the innately macabre nature of "holy Cathaholocism"! Attended a funeral at the cathedral recently. Probably one of the nicest services I have ever attended. The church itself has a very good feeling. The priest who performed the service and who hails from Castlebar has a natural matter of fact human touch, using everyday language which commands attention and makes a difference. The singing by both a girl and a gentleman who also played an electric organ/keyboard was powerful stuff. Really gifted beautiful singing! A sad occasion made special and memorable.
