Excellent little castle. Great experience climbing the towers. Very interesting graffiti and carved images all over the stairwells. A few well done displays on the history of the castle. The archery was a great bonus. Very friendly, informative guy giving mini lessons in crossbow and longbow archery. A good couple of hours. Please like and follow. Foix is an impressive monument dominating the city of Foix. You can see it from every angle. You can drive and park 5 minutes away from it, or you can ignore the pedestrian only road and park next to it. Ignore all the construction and into the new building which hosts the museum. This is where you buy access ticket It is a rough climbing pedestrian winding narrow road with an amazing view on the valley and the city below. You can see miles and miles away. The itself had a couple of towers and a court ( space outside) Dew rooms that can accommodate the leadership and soldiers and ob one tower you have a room for the load to sleep and bathe. You have to climb the narrow stairs in the tower to have the birds view of everything below. In the end, you can choose to walk back the windings pebble road or take the elevator to the museum. The hosts all the pictures, history, furnitures and arms used since the establishment of Foix thousand years ago. Highly recommend There's scaffolding up with works going on (it looks like wheelchair access works). So on arrival, we weren't sure if it was open, but it is !! We followed signs in the town centre for the castle-Parking, only to find ourselves going round in a circle 3 times !!! Luckily it's Easter Mon and not very busy, so we found a spot for the camper in the middle of the two main town roads. €12.50 each entry. Great castle, lots of steps once at the top. There's a long stone ramp up/down, or a lift - with several floors gor the museum. The itself has 'displays ' on throughout the day, blacksmith, stone mason, weapons, etc. Unfortunately very little information in English (but, of course, totally acceptable - we're in France !!!). It's a fair bit of walking - first up the the castle, and then once uo there. The towers are fabulous, but cares needed as people are going to pass up/down on spiral staircases. Loads to see in the - excellent value. Gift shop, toilets (no cafe). Hero exhibition upstairs is very interesting. Fairly small but very comprehensive attached. If you connect to the wifi there is an excellent commentary in English. Very impressive from the exterior. Nice to go through a towers. A relatively small fort though. It took less than an hour.It's a tour. Great place to take the village idiots ( my kids). We had a nice looking around. Worth the visit and nice views. A good half day out at a beautiful with interactive exhibits and plenty of history. However you really need to understand French to benefit. Great castle. Now . It is a steep old climb and your legs will be sore but it is well worth it. Going up the tower is a bit scary but well worth the view. There is so much to do here you would need a whole day to get it all done. This is definitely geared towards with weapons displays and artificial décor throughout. There isn’t a ton of high level historic information. The are nice but there are a lot of steps / steep pathways. I guess I recommend coming in a cooler month than June 😎 Amazing day! Wish we had longer! We spent four hours with 4 and 5. They loved it! The guide at the armor and weapons stop was amazing!! We spent over an hour there. He even spoke pretty good English. Gift shop had good toys for the too. Still under renovation but a great to visit with a lot of effort put in recreation of fittings & furniture Fun step back in to medieval times, great vignettes going on like Blacksmiths and Swordsman. Lots of climbing though! Good for kids. Wonderful of Foix Beautiful city. The is amazing. Would love to return. The Great Pyrenees Mountains are magnificent! Perfect for stepping into a previous in history and experiencing what life might have been like back when the was in its prime. It’s in amazing condition with different stalls and people explaining weapons, blacksmithing, stonework, and other interesting ideas. The demonstrations are all in French but you can ask questions in English if you want to further expand your knowledge. There’s a connected as well but we didn’t have to explore that section. Give yourself ample if you want to explore both the and the itself. A great place to bring or even as an adult if you enjoy history and medieval times. 🏰 Very well maintained medieval on top of a hill. It is quite a walk to get to the entrance and then an evening longer climb up cobblestones to the itself after the museum. The however are breath taking. It was not as busy ai had feared it might be but it was baking hot so the climb to the top was tougher. 2 (13 & 9) and I managed the climb all the way to the top tower and the were well worth the effort. This fitted in really well as a day trip along with the underground river at Labouiche. Beautiful castle, I felt the live actors dressed in clothing from the period made it a nice and immersive experience. The was filled with info and the staff was helpful, and spoke multiple languages (English, Spanish, and French of course). Fantastic visit.
