We were directed to this establishment by the holiday resort we stayed at - “The best Sunday Carvery you will ever have”. Well…. No. The building must be listed and in beautiful the decor and set up is charming and cozy. We were shown to our seats in the pub, and sat near a rowdy bunch who had been at the bar for quite some time - the noise killed the atmosphere and a nice relaxed Sunday Dinner was out the window. The food on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. The best item on the plate was the broccoli and the Yorkshire Pudding, sadly I drowned it all in the cold gravy. Not to mention the overcooked meat. Potatoes looked amazing but were soggy and over cooked (probably cooked in the morning and then left sat in the warmer. Swede had WAY too much white pepper. Needless to say, we half ate and didn’t have dessert. Sadly, I would not recommend this establishment. Came here twice when we stopped in the area. Very friendly welcome and the service was great. Food portions are massive and the food is excellent had fish and chips the first time. Second time had sea food platter and both was a massive portion and really nice. My wife had dirty chips with pulled pork and that was also nice. Lovely pub food, homemade grub. Portions are massive and worth every penny. The staff are very nice and there is plenty to choose from, they have a main menu and also a specials menu on the wall. They also do a carvery on a Sunday. They serve food all day seven days a week. Absolutely lovely food Great decision to go here. They had a wedding on and many reserved tables but they still found me and the family a table. I've hardly ever left food on my plate but couldn't finish it, huge portions and proper home made chips. Great country pub with a good choice of real ales , the Sunday lunch was amazing, and the Guinness & steak pie was one of the best I've tried , it gets busy so book if you can , there is a small car park but you can also park on the roads nearby. Booked in for the mid week roast 2 adults with 4 dogs. Received a very warm, friendly welcome. Food was excellent I had the roast beef and my mum enjoyed the roast lamb , thankfully chose the small plate as would never have managed a large portion! very reasonably priced and excellent service. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend We called at the Old Inn today (13/10/25), as it was recommended to us by the our friends in Perranwell Station. I have to say the food and the staff are fantastic. We arrived a bit too late really as it took us a while to get there, rather than turn us away the lady behind the bar went and spoke to the chef who was more than willing to cook us what we wanted. We chose the homemade Steak and Ale pie, what a treat it was too, definatetly the best we have had, and coming from Lancashire folk, that is a compliment. The locals in the pub were very warming and gave us an insight into the local area etc. We will definately be returning everytime we are down in Cornwall Thank you staff Called this place up late as had a table booked at another restaurant but they had no kids menu to offer so we left and found the old inn on Google whilst on holiday . Lady (Teresa) said she would fit us in at a struggle but come over so we did it was fab. So busy well organised great atmosphere and gave us the Sunday carvery and children's menu we were looking for at sensible prices. Thank you for having us and not letting us miss our Sunday tea 😃would come back.
