The art installation is a strange thing for this area but it certainly drew us in, then when we climbed up to it and saw the information boards there, it made sense. Beautiful view of the river, not too sure about the quarry! With or without the sculpture, it would be a lovely picnic spot. There is a picnic table by the carpark in front of the quarry. Up on the hill would be a better place for it This viewpoint is just a walking distance from Tomintoul town. The is very modern and the way it is situated in nature makes it look different. It is just a 150 meter little well maintained hike to reach the sculpture and get an amazing view of nature all around. Good place to get a nice picture in nature which looks very modern too. Lovely wee surprise to stumble upon this piece of "art" about 1 mile south of Tomintoul with stunning views Another one of those kinda weird "sights" (art sculptures) in the middle of nowhere. You have a nice view over the river Avon from up there and it is a nice stop to walk for a few minutes, in case you have been sitting in the car for way too long already. Seriously, take a break! What a magnificent viewpoint. The car park was really smooth with no massive potholes, the path to the was well maintained, and the installation itself was stunning. The way it reflected the landscape made for a very unique view. It was a great place to sit with a spot of lunch and a coffee, watching the world pass by with the slight sound of the river flowing beneath. Beautiful location. We were lucky to be there when a piper was on the hill which made the area even more wonderful. This is my kind of thing. It is a bit of a steep walk up so if you’re not too good on your feet it might be a struggle. Amazing views and clever concept. We went early to avoid people so got parked easily, however, we passed later in the day and it was busy.
