Challenging enough to keep you engaged. The house is super and clean,, and very welcoming. Will play again. First time playing here, and what a course it was. Thoroughly enjoyed my round, definitely a lot harder to play than it looks, not just one you can drive far got to really think about how you approach every hole. Will be back again for sure. Played this links course down in Dawlish Warren, £28 a round and worth the money. Had a bacon bap and coffee on arrival for the usual prices. Nice short links course at 5500 yards but certainly had its challenges, the greens were in fantastic condition and the views over the bay really good. Recommended. From tee to cannot fault nothing, a difficult course but challenging in the wind, greeted very well by the pro shop staff, value for money 👍. And romany who served us is very pleasant and cannot do enough for you.. Please come here if you haven't been before you will not be disappointed. Excellent course, quirky and quite tight in places but lovely lay out and beautiful views of the estuary and coast. Really value and were very and helpful. Views when out on the course are beautiful and scenic. The actual course is in terrible condition (they aren’t allowed to do anything with the fairways because of environmental concerns) probably a lot to do with the summer we’ve had. £49 fee to play here in the condition the course is in is a problem. We’ve played golf all over the UK and the 18th hole here is possibly the worst we’ve ever encountered. A true links course, Warren offers an immersive experience for golfers in the inspiring location of the Exe estuary spit. Calling ahead, I inquired if any members could accommodate me in a playing party; my parkland game has never easily acclimatised, so I was fortunate enough to play with General Manager Benjamin Sclater, a fine Devon County Player. Ben’s deep knowledge of the course and easygoing nature make him the perfect guide, helping me navigate the club’s quirks and charms. Playing in high summer, I encountered swirling tidal winds, blind forced water and gorse carry tee shots, hellish bunkers, and firm greens (double cut and rolled that day – quite the welcoming committee!). It quickly became apparent that ball striking must be tempered to an exacting standard, as numbers easily racked up if not. Oh, to be born by the sea! Warren offers vivid memories with each hole; idiosyncratic yet pure in its natural preservation as a site of special scientific interest - bunkering of natural sands, littleto no herbicide treatment and natural waste areas abound; bursts of wigeons and oyster catchers catch the eye. An “Amen” corner of holes 6 through 8 around the estuary spit will easily reside in your memories, as you feel the infinity of water. Don’t expect to fill your boots – this may well thrill, madden, and temper the parkland golfing archetype, leaving you wanting more and more. With Colt and Mackenzie courses around the corner, be sure to visit this true Braid gem. Probably the friendliest in Devon. Played today and was pleasantly taken back by how everyone we encountered were. Members, staff, pro shop and bar were so friendly. Great views, challenging track that was well explained in the pro shop. Shame my score wasn’t better but a great experience. Played 11/07/25 and as much as the course, the facilities, and the majority of were absolutely perfect. Our group was met with a keeper who can only be described as aggressive at best whilst he was at fault. He preceeded to threaten and attempt to intimidate us on the tee. His behaviour was shocking and unacceptable in my opinion. Apparently he took priority, not the paying customer, not something I've ever been aware of on any other course I've ever played. Another part of the group was also met by someone on the course a possible member who felt it was his duty to question why the group was playing in a scramble match, again making people feel very unwelcome. I don't believe this is a reflection on the itself but definitely made our experience not as enjoyable as we all hoped. We booked a midweek from 2pm round, only to be asked if we would be prepared to pay when we turned up to pay. We said we could pay however it was slightly inconvenient for us to do so. We were then persuaded to pay for both myself and my wife's fee but the older gentleman concerned who served us proceeded to put the money in his pocket which we found rather odd; especially as many businesses only take card payments these days and won't accept cash. Unfortunately, the gentleman in question wouldn’t take no for an answer and as he offered a £5 discount for us to pay in cash, we went ahead that way taking the discount he was offering as for the two of us that was a £10 discount. The course was disappointing to say the least. Not a classic links of the 18. The course looked like it had potential but nothing like other links courses we have played on our summer trips to Devon and Cornwall as it looked untidy in rather a lot of areas. Unfortunately when we finished out our round the entire place was closed so we were unable to stop for a drink even though it was before 6pm. Everything was locked up. I don’t think we will be rushing back hope this place gets some much-needed investment as it looked like it needed a boost.
