This is one of my favourite local campsites . I recently went to a van meet here for the weekend. the site is clean and well maintained . And showers are available. The view from the site is lovely. And added bonus is the pub on site that serves food and even takeouts . The pub had a great atmosphere and the staff were very . I would highly recommend here . My first visit in my 4 night stay in the lake district was a monday night. Walked in to find the pub empty. Dont let that put you off. Decided to stay and order food. Wow. I had the pork belly, on a bed of black pudding in a stilton and chorizo sauce. Flavours were amazing and portion size plentifull. All staff were and service was great. I guess monday is their quiet day. I returned tuesday to find the place rammed. The staff were just as in a busy environment and the food as great as when quiet. A great experiance all round. Popped in for a quick bite to eat this evening to round off our holiday - warm welcome, fantastic food, good selection of beers etc. Informed of allergies and the team went out of their way to swap elements of the dish which I find very rare when we go out to eat! All the staff were lovely even those who didn’t serve us directly. Baby in tow was welcomed and accommodated. We always come to THE weatshelf because it's perfect for us. Highly recommended. We ate at The Wheatsheaf three times during our stay in Lorton this May — and every time was superb. The food is outstanding; my husband's favourite is Shredded Shepherd, which is slow-cooked lamb and black pudding, and I love their Sunday roast! The pub is cosy, the staff are really friendly, and the service is faultless. We always love a meal here after a walk on the fells — it’s the perfect way to round off the day.
