This was my first time back for several years. The building is very old and has lots of character. The staff were very good, attentive and efficient. I had the cow pie, the meat was very quality indeed but the pastry topping was extremely tough, it wasn't edible. I don't have experience of making pastry so I can't comment on why, but it was a shame. Very gastro pub. Friendly staff, and very friendly owners. Clean and nice layout. Well served portions. Must go eat or drink! Kids friendly as well. Great customer service. Fantastic food. Fully recommend! My wife and myself visited The Royal Yew between Christmas and New Years Day - we were not disappointed. We were impressed by the menu and the fact they are dog-friendly. The Half Cow pie was incredible - full of filling... served with fantastic chips and a selection of veg. Relatively small, but range of beers, too. We had the roast beef dinner, mixed grill, sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake. food, generous portions and friendly staff. Had to wait a few minutes until somebody left to get parked, but the food more than made up for the delay. Value for money, lovely service. We were lucky to get a table as we didn't book, I strongly advise call ahead to book a table, very popular 😊 Great pub grub, lovely atmosphere,highly recommended👌🏻 Lovely pub, really friendly service. We had a booking time mix up and they still accommodated us with great flexibility. Food was pretty good. The half cow pie is still big (forget the full portion) though the thick pastry wasn't the best for us. Broccoli was overdone but carrots were perfect. Would definitely recommend. beer, food, prices. Unassuming country pub, to start we had brie wedges (unreal!), the game pie and the rump steak. Both were very generous portion sizes, cooked nicely. No issues with service contrary to other reviews. Our dog was welcome too.
