Apart from the obvious pong from hundreds of sheep and goats, the place is just perfect for a nice mountain trip, the climb is really easy, one might say, family-friendly. The hut is nice, friendly, laid back, ready for your wishes. NOTE: do not underestimate the easy approach to the mountain. This place was a scene of a horrible accident some decades ago, when a group of tourists got lost in the fog - only to be found frozen next morning just a few meters away from the hut that they didn't see... Beautiful place with a view, haven't been inside so I can't comment on facilities. Disappointing was that they had no food ready (probably no gluten free options so I always have my own, but others counted on it). Outside toiled is awful and smelly, no water to wash hands, but did have disinfectant. Perfect trip! One hour of walk from village Gozd, free parking space, stunning nature. Very nice circle trip from Gozd to Tolsti vrh, Koča na Kriški gori and back to village. A nice route takes about 1 h 15 min from place Gozd up to the top. The view on the top of the mountain is worth of every step and breath. Beautiful hut with an amazing location which offers nice views in all seasons. Very friendly people and delicious food. Its approximately 1 hour of walking, but the hike can be extended by 1 more hour to nearby peak Tolsti vrh which offers amazing views all around.
