Roughly 1 hour to walk from Ljubelj Pass to the Chalet on Zelenica. It is rather big with spacious main sitting area and with plenty of tables in front of the entrance with a nice view on the North face of the Begunjščica mountain. They offer typical Slovenian alpine dishes but we have only tried apple and cottage cheese & blueberry "štrudelj". Fresh and delicious. The Chalet is open all year round but from end of October till March only during the weekends but with option to book the place for bigger groups also during the week days. Very friendly staff. Awesome hut in the heart of Karavanke Alps. I overnighted two nights in the Planinski Dom na Zelenicy. The rooms are nice and it was possible to turn the heating on in the room. The food is excellent - as vegetarian I enjoyed štruklji and ričet. For breakfast it was possible to get scrambled eggs. They also serve very good coffee, as there is professional barista coffee machine. The host Denis and his colleagues vere very welcoming and taking good care of the customers. The cost of the one night + half-board was 30€, with discount for membership in an Alpine club, which I find a very good deal. Planinski Dom na Zelenicy has excellent location, with trails leading to Stol, Vrtča, Boguniščica, Šredni Vrh and Ljublj Pass. If the weather is bad or you want to have a nice view at sunrise or sunset there is awesome viewpoint at Triangeli peak (~1700 m als) just 15-20 min from the hut. I would definitely stay again in Planinski Dom na Zelenicy. I am actually missing it after two days in Ljubljana... 😅 A beautifull place in perfect nature with incredibly kind hosts... A perfec ten... Medicine for the body and spul... And they even have and a guitar... Košutnik is an icredible drink... Always glad to return to the Zelenica hut. 1:15h from the parking lot. Options to climb Begunjščica summit or Wertatscha mountain. Great meal and friendly staff. Recommend All i could think of...was getting a cold beer, while decending from the mountain. And they delivered, never was a can of beer so refreshing! Easy hike trail. Nice for training. 60minutes up 40minutes for faster ones Very friendly and communicative woman staff, delicious local meal, comfortable and cozy woden rooms, bed linen and hot shower which you do not expect in the mountain cottage.
