Just cycled past but have fished it before , lovely location and good ponds. Plenty of parking at the cafe at the bottom First time at Aldin Grange Fishery today. Lots of positives, no negatives. Why? Easily accessible, safe, plenty of fish, various species, well laid out, well maintained, friendly owner, a decent tea room with well priced goodies and refreshments. The trout were all over the show and plenty of them! On my particular outing no fish were caught, more to do with me being a novice than the stunning location.... I have been this spot somewhat regularly lately after not since about 2012! After re-igniting my passion for fishing, It is currently my 'go-to' place. There are two decent sized fly lakes that are maintained to a decent standard and fish well, without being one of those overstocked fish in a barrel situations. (We've all seen them) At £15 a day C&R, you can't complain. The on site cafe for a nice bacon sandwich and a brew is also a plus. I can't speak for any of the coarse fishing, but the fly is definitely worth a shot. Lovely outdoor seating area and amazing afternoon tea! Only £6 Monday to Wednesday during August with the government eat out to help out scheme! Lovely friendly staff too. If you look at the good reviews of this place you'll notice it's mostly people who are "just cycling past", or visiting the cafe etc. The simple truth is, the fishery is well past its best. They don’t take care of the place. Woodpecker lake is an absolute disgrace, weedy, snaggy, overgrown, majority of the pegs are semi - submerged and honestly quite dangerous. For Aldin grange to have the cheek to charge above the going rate for a day ticket (£15) for visiting is honestly a mystery. All of the local tackle shops in the area advise against here. I thought I’d try it anyway and make my own mind up but it seems it’s for good reason, Aldin Grange is simply not good enough and not worth your time and/or money. Great ponds very clean! Would definitely recommend! Had great time down the pond yesterday! Caught one little roach but very impressed with the pond thank to the guy who let me and brother on thank for the experience I will be back! Went today, condition of the pond was bad, checked the website beforehand to make sure there was no competition and when we arrived there was one on but no one told us. had to fish on small pond and made us pay for my 6 year old nephew The course is not great and the ticket price is too high. The top lake is disgusting, no care goes into this place. Go elsewhere and don't waste your time.
