My/our happiness is beginning in Shotley Bridge to Stanhope,which is a lovely place for shops &the Pennine surrounding. Rookhope is our favourite,remote and in a valley upon a valley; we go off road to the peak on top & the views are amazing. We go to Allenheads (Hexham) back in Weardale on route via cowshill, St Peters chapel to Stanhope and Walsingham. We stop off at different places on our route. Stanhope lovely and river wear great for dogs to dip and children paddle (when not fully flowing) A short break to visit a beautiful part of the country. Stunning walks with the pooch, lovely villages and places to see ☀️😁 Weardale is a beautiful area,and much easier to drive about,as the roads are much quieter than many areas. Great pubs,cafes and local shops. Wide open spaces with the sounds of grouse and virtually nothing else. So silent which is unusual in today's world. Cannot wait to go back when the abundant heather is blooming. A beautiful area of the country so relaxing spent a few hours there one afternoon just watching the different bird species and wildlife the silence and solitude was amazing.
