Beautiful scenery, lots of laybys to stop in, great roads! Lovely villages with cafes dotted around, had a lovely day exploring the pennines, take your rubbish home please. Beautiful countryside, great walking country and some interesting places to visit Beautiful part of the country and not too touristy. Weardale is our escape; where my hubby and I feel free. A Nature Reserve as far as the eye can see with wildlife. Today i photographed rabbits by their burrows in Rookhope. As I need to use a wheelchair ♿️ hiking unfortunately unable to do. My/our happiness is beginning in Shotley Bridge to Stanhope, which is a lovely place for shops &the Pennine surrounding. Rookhope is our favourite, remote and in a valley upon a valley; we go off road to the peak on top & the views are amazing. We go to Allenheads (Hexham) back in Weardale on route via cowshill, St Peters chapel to Stanhope and Walsingham. We stop off at different places on our route. I haven't been in the dales centre yet,it has an information centre and a cafe. Still a wonderful day on october 4th. Weardale is our escape; where my hubby and I feel free. Stanhope lovely and river wear great for dogs to dip and children paddle (when not fully flowing) A short break to visit a beautiful part of the country. Stunning walks with the pooch, lovely villages and places to see ☀️😁 Weardale is a beautiful area, and much easier to drive about,as the roads are much quieter than many areas. Great pubs, cafes and local shops. Wide open spaces with the sounds of grouse and virtually nothing else. So silent which is unusual in today's world. Cannot wait to go back when the abundant heather is blooming. A beautiful area of the country so relaxing spent a few hours there one afternoon just watching the different bird species and wildlife the silence and solitude was amazing.
