Oh mercy me that view! This place is all about the atmosphere but I must say, the food is solid as well. We actually walked here from the Bergstation which takes about 30m along the roadside but it's worth it if you're staying for a while. We got lucky and found some spots in the shared-table Bierhalle-style outdoor seating right when we got there but it's very possible there will be a wait if you come during the peak times. I got the Schnitzel with Spätzle of course and my date got the Bratwürste (small portion -- which is great that they offer that!). I also got an Almdudler to drink, which felt perfect to drink while overlooking the cows in the rolling hills, and my date got a white wine that she said was the best she's had in a while. Our food came out and while it wasn't the best German cuisine I've had, it hit the spot and feeling the breeze on your face while basking in the sun of a tri-country hillside doesn't hurt the taste. We made sure to save room for Kaiserschmarrn afterward as we saw several other tables had ordered it. After the 20m+ wait (worth it), they bring it in a sizzling pan with a side of your choice (we got Apfelmus). We dug in immediately and man was it good! While I like my Kaiserschmarrn a tad crispier, eating it out of the still-frying pan was fantastic. All in all, we really enjoyed our meal and I highly recommend on a day, even with the hike there and back! Prost! Very place to relax, very view, food excelent! Very restaurant with great food and feel like home ambiance ! Enjoyed the service, the food and the extraordinary view! Very good food! Looked and tasted like in a 1-Michelin Star restaurant. Can only recommend! I loved this place and everything it has to offer! From the hiking routes, patches of cows and goats, and random walking routes, to the actually food, service, and atmosphere. FOOD: the food was fantastic! Overall the meat is very fresh and it is so easy to taste this. It is rich in flavour, it can actually be a bit more on the salty side if you add too much sauce (which they serve you additional sauce on the side). The pork and beef are fantastic and well cooked, not over nor under done and very juicy. The salads are so and flavorful, they add either a sweet, sour, or peppery taste to your meat portion. The fresh side salad has a calm sauce in it. They juices were the best! Desserts were unexpectedly good! Not overly sweet, just perfect! Very much recommended! SERVICE: I must say, my German is not great, but the guy was super nice, they all went above and beyond to make sure I understood what the food and the deserts contained, and they incorporated a substantial amount of humor which I don’t encounter very often, it made me feel comfortable and welcomed. Food was ready rather quick and they always check that we have everything we need from our order to additional sauce or drinks. It was very pleasant to talk to them. ATMOSPHERE: it is very lively, very dynamic, not loud at all, super easy to talk to your family or friends, very welcoming and tables are at a very decent distance not to feel disturbed by others while still feeling cozy and warm. Bathrooms are clean and and items are readily available. Definitely recommend this place! Lovely place with a beautiful view. We had been driving for about 20 minutes looking for a good place to eat on our way to Schauinsland when we stumbled upon this place. Luckily they also had an English menu, which helped. What we had was pretty basic - soups, salad and fries, and they were quite okay. We didn't try any specials so can't comment on that. Overall I was quite satisfied, the staff was also quite friendly and had the courtesy to speak to us in English, because unfortunately we didn't know any German. Found this restaurant on Google Maps and thought, ‘Let’s give it a try.’ We turned up without a booking and they were kind enough to seat us so we could enjoy our meal. The burger and chips were absolutely delicious. And the view… just wow! Give it a try — it’s worth it. You have to ask for an English menu, they dont assume just by looking at you which is not a bad thing. The staff spoke English as well which was helpful because my German is horrible. Food was AMAZING. I had the Cordon Bleu with roasted potatoes, the roasted potatoes were the best part of the meal. The Cordon Bleu was good but those potatoes were the star. Food came out very fast and was hot.
