Fair amount of parking spaces available, decent and family friendly paths smooth enough for a buggy/pram. Interesting benches with quotes on and scenic walk. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lovely short forest walk. Has a dog run, good car park, clean toilets, views of the Mournes, cows, and a Quaker meeting hall from ages ago. Derrymore House and woodland and medieval rath are well worth taking the time to stop and see. The house dates from the 1770's and the Parkland is full of nature and good for a brisk or even a run. Weekday mornings are lovely when you get it nearly to yourself and plenty of parking and dog friendly. Can't believe it took me so long to visit this beautiful place and I'll be back! Cute little place - perfect for a lunch stop. It is a small venue with planned walks and external views of the house itself. The only facilities are parking and toilets. There was a coffee van there on the weekend day l visited but l don't know if that is always open. The grounds include the remains of an old fort. Lots of locals visiting - there is a dog park there too. Derrymore house is a spectacular and unique building, BUT it is private, the interior is not open to the public. You can get very close to the building, but not into it. The house is set in extensive and well maintained park land, where you can and 'play' and enjoy a peaseful day. I hadn't heard of this place even when a national trust member. Spacious grounds, woodland walk, children's playground which blended into the surroundings and toilets which while clean and modern lacked loo roll...it was a Monday morning. No cafe but we stopped for a cuppa on the way and brought a picnic. We'll worth a visit. Such a gem of a place for a and explore with little ones. Quiet playground alternative to the busy Slieve Gullion one. Walks are just the right length for toddlers and small kids. Playground is sheltered from winds and lovely. Magical colours in Autumn. There is a very pleasant, purpose built, perimeter for runners, walkers and dog walkers. It’s about 3km total depending on when you turn for home. There is the opportunity to go half way and cut across. There is also a dog run, which is very popular. Many folk come here to just let the dogs off the leash in a safe space. Derrymore House and the Quaker Church etc have some interesting history. Plus a hidden garden kinda thing. There’s also a secure (dog free) play park for the bambinos, should you be tasked with keeping them entertained. A great spot. Lucky to have it on our doorstep.
