Went on Thursday evening and had the night special. The steaks were excellent, cooked to perfection with onions and mushrooms on a sizzling griddle. The pints of Guinness were the best I've had in a long time. Definitely worth a visit. Been back for the several times and they've never let me down. The bar area is nice and cosy with a wood burning stove and the pints of Guinness are great. They have a selection of food on the menu, many of the dishes I've tried and the food is always really good. Besides the steak, the cod and chips is a favourite of mine. You get a generous piece of cod in batter with mushy peas and chips. Nice, nice, nice! I can’t say more – you have to go and check it out yourself 😉 A pub with friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Perfect for a chill after the hikes nearby. Top class food. So worth the trip. I love that I can take my dog and sit in the little cottage extension to eat. Loved this place so much! We visited on a girl's trip and found the perfect place to eat and socialise. The staff were all incredible and spent a good amount of time talking to us and asking questions about our trip (we were from a variety of different countries and shared our story). The pub was very busy which was a surprise for a small village, but obviously people keep coming back. Service was quick and pleasant and the food was very tasty. The menu had a allergy checker which made it a lot easier for our friend who needed it. Portion size was and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. The atmosphere was and the music had us all singing and dancing along (think family disco). The building itself and the interior is beautiful with some original features and lots of fairy lights. When we'd finished eating we spent some time sitting outside. The beer garden is huge with plenty of seating and even a little fairy garden at the bottom. We're hoping to return to the cabin we stayed in and we'll definitely be back to Johnny Murphy's when we do If you want a steak, you found the right spot. The pepper sauce on the champ and was tremendous and very memorable. My husband grew up on a ranch in western USA, and he is very picky about steak. He finished off my rare and was thoroughly satisfied. He went back the next night, had again and found it as wonderful as our first night. Thank you for a delicious meal and a happy memory. Food amazing , service very extremely poor and "Angela" older woman in her 60s, not sure if she's manager, owner or just someone there a long time provided the worst service iv ever come across ! Speaking to the young staff like idiots, in front of customers , speaking about other customers in front of ppl , overall extremely unpleasant and unprofessional. Food was beautiful and reasonably priced the wait was a bit ridiculous though, 45 min was a bit rough tbf. We had lovely turkey and ham dinners this afternoon after a hike on Slieve Gullion. The staff were friendly, the food was excellent and the bill was very reasonable. It's not my first time eating here and it certainly won't be my last. Highly recommend!
