Only the gardens and some of the retail were open. The cafe is very good, with generous, well cooked portions. The real jewel is the garden, so well cared for and peaceful. What an amazing place to visit.. the castle tour by thr butler George and Helen was. The only disappointment was we did give ourselves enough time to do everything but we will be back. FANTASTIC Visited here, as we were on a road trip for the day. Lovely food served. Nice walk around, visited the small boutique shops, visited the small museum, and also had a lovely scone and jam in the tea room. ( it just had to be done) Staff lovely. Good car parking space is available. A beautiful and well maintained garden, lots of different flowers and plants there.The toilets are clean and tidy.Be careful, there are robot lawnmowers, trying to catch you :) Castle was unfortunately not open to public when we visited(only open on certain dates as family still live here) but beautiful gardens and a great Coffee/Cake stop off Love the gardens. Everyone is really friendly and helpful. Great local artisan shops and food. Lovely place and when the weather is good it’s 10 out of 10. Lots of areas to sit and picnic and a wide variety of places to purchase food. We came for the mini defenders. They are amazing but you need to book! £10 for 30 minutes which works out at 5 laps of the course which includes driving through water!! Parents have a remote which the can use to stop the vehicle if the child isn’t great at driving and turning. Probably suitable from age 5 upwards. Took my Icelandic visitors along the coast for the day and stopped in for lunch in the Glenarm tearooms. However, the lure of the shops soon had them purchasing some of the unique gifts to take home. Although the clothing shop had a plethora of colour, there were some comments on the advantages of Icelandic wool over what was on offer. Once the ice creams were spotted i had to suggest waiting until we had our lunch. The walk past those having pizzas made us more eager to arrive at the tearooms. As always there was a good selection of dishes on offer and when we'd ordered we took a table. The food was delivered promptly and we all agreed it was very tasty. A steady flow of customers, yet we stayed at our table, and ordered teas and coffee with delicious cakes. Once finished it was back to the ice cream parlour and picked up our garden entry tickets from the shop. I couldn't believe an icelandic comment , this ice cream is freezing, brought up in the land of fire and ice... Nevertheless we entered the gardens to a riot of colour from the thousands of tulips on display. So many photo opportunities. The extensive hedging makes unique rooms, each with a theme. I applaud the gardening team, your endeavours were much admired. Saddened only by the magnificent magnolia which had suffered in the previous days heavy rains. When i had previously visited there was always interesting planting. A return visit in the summer is planned. Such a well kept beautiful place to visit.
