We booked one night here on way to Cornwall First of all the staff and locals ve4y friendly. Donna greeted us and showed us to room. It was OK for one night I understand the building 1800's but needed a refresh at a £100 a night. We'd travelled 4 hours and were looking forward to a evening meal to be told 5hey had closed the k8tchen early as not busy( this was a Saturday night). This pub is remote with no outside or road illumination but we travelled a few miles to next pub to eat it was driving rain and high winds. My husband went to get something out of car around 9.45pm ish, pitch black, I heard barking and2 alsatian type dogs had gone for him he froze in time after 5 minutes of barking,growling and butting him they lost interest but what if it had been a small child or dog this was totally unacceptable in a public place and we learned they did belong to the pub. Breakfast if you want a light yogurt and fruit breakfast you will be disappointed but the dynamic duo that is Lynn and jasmine work hard to please customer service at it's very best. Arrived for Sunday lunch to be greeted by staff. Good selection of beers. Ordered roast dinner, beef,lamb or pork. All with good selection of vegetables. Finished off with dessert from adequate menu. Dog friendly, beer drinker friendly. I loved it, so could you. Good parking, outside garden. Well worth a visit. We stayed at The Farmers Arms, Taunton as two couples on the 6th & 7th of September, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. There was plenty of free parking, which made arriving stress-free. The rooms were traditional and full of character, yet still very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and equipped with everything we needed. The heart of the stay, though, was the warm and welcoming ambience created in both the bar and restaurant. The food was excellent — we enjoyed a delicious dinner paired with great local cider. A special mention must go to Zoe and her fantastic team. Their hospitality was outstanding: attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring, which made us feel right at home. As someone who travels extensively all over the world on a regular basis, I can honestly say The Farmers Arms is a real gem. It’s a perfect blend of comfort, tradition, and true West Country hospitality. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be returning! Yes it’s used by farmers and locals but they are welcoming and Zoe and her team will look after you and welcome you as their guest. Reasonably priced room which included a very nice Full English breakfast with thick tiger bread toast, and tea/coffee. Staff were very and helpful from arrival/check-in, in the bar and restaurant, and checking out. Food was very nice, reasonably priced, and large portions. Bar had a good selection of draft ciders and beers. Would definitely visit again if in the area. We’ve just spent a wonderful few days at the Farmers Arms. The staff are so and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, the beds were comfy and the atmosphere was great. Food was good too! We’d certainly stay there again. Had a lovely welcoming stop over in our motorhome. We arrived too late for Sunday lunch, but the very obliging owner made us a couple of brilliant Ploughman's lunches. It's out in the sticks, so very quiet at night.
