And so another day off and another day exploring the North West for some food 😋 Today we thought we would try the @grosvenor.arms a gorgeous little pub just outside Chester in Aldford. it's a old pub run by @brunningandprice we love the @rakehallpub so we thought we would give it a go. The staff is what makes a pub and the three or four members of staff we spoke to were and then of course the food @stephw22 had the Crispy Beef Salad and I went for the Pulled Beef Brisket Cottage Pie. Both were amazing Steph barely spoke so I know the Crispy beef was and I absolutely loved the Cottage Pie its the perfect time of year for a Cottage pie and roast veggies and this was possibly the best cottage pie I have ever had 👌🥰🥰 all washed down for me with a gorgeously smooth pint of @timothytaylorsbrewery boltmaker Bitter I mean what could be better? We would highly recommend a visit 🍻 #foodreviews #honestfoodreviews #saltandpepper #stephandPhill #whynot #weloveourfood #northwest #Liverpool #Chester #Wirral #EllesmerePort #cottagepie #pepperoni #weloveourfood #goodscran #helpusgrow #newtothis #rudyspizzaliverpool #goandtryit #saltandpepperreviews #brunningandprice #thegrosvenorarms #@timothytaylorsbrewery #boltmaker #igerscheshire #igerswirral #igersliverpool #Foodies We decided to start our food reviews as friends work colleagues always asked us to recommend places to eat as we are a pair of foodies who just love to try new places to eat so thought why not share with family friends and hopefully more and we hope you try some of these local independent food places that we visit. This is all our own thoughts and feelings we are not paid by anyone to give these reviews local pub that's worth a stop. A classic, beautiful and local pub. Drinks on tap were great, the service was excellent and friendly, and the food was good. A pub, food and service. Great pints of Original Bitter. place. sized car park. Great selection of food and drink (including gluten free and vegan). My fishcake dish was just delicious. The bill was very reasonable. It was the perfect place to catch up with friends. I would highly recommend and cannot wait to return. Popped in here on Easter Sunday as in the area on the off-chance they would be able to fit us in without a booking. The guy at the door was super friendly and helpful and managed to get us a table. Not a huge amount of vegetarian/vegan options on the menu but what we did have was really good. We had Sunday dinner here and the service and food was excellent, the waiters made a fuss of my young son, I read a book from the library while my son played on the tractor outside and our food came swiftly.. it’s was hot and delicious, I would definitely recommend this pub.. We were hungry on our way to Chester and stopped here on a whim. What a find! The bar/restaurant had a beautiful, cosy atmosphere. The bar and waiting staff were friendly. Also, there was a bonus dog, Peggy (I am not sure if she lives in the pub or belonged to a local/regular, but she was so precious!). I didn't fancy any of the vegan mains on the menu. However, there was a Christmas menu that looked more like a bit of me, but it was quite dear, and I didn't intend to spend a lot. So I decided to have a starter (I had the pumpkin, sage, and pearl barley risotto with toasted seeds and crematta) with some chips on the side. The risotto was easily one of the tastiest risottos I've ever had. It was so creamy and flavourful! I wasn't a fan of the chunky chips as they were a little too hard for my liking, I wish I got the fries instead. My partner had the Appleby's Cheshire cheese, onion, and potato pie, with green vegetables and white wine mustard sauce. He said it was the best pie he's ever had, and he isn't even veggie or vegan! I was pleased that they had oat milk available for their hot drinks. Also, the tea was Yorkshire Tea which is a real winner in my eyes! It's a shame we don't live near Chester as we had a really experience and would like to eat here more often. Met up with some old friends. Ended up ordering some nibbles. Bhaji was very doughy & undercooked whereas the fries were very over cooked & inedible. Sausage roll & calamari were ok. Beer was on point. Waitress didn't give a stuff when told about the feedback.
