A very different experience to explore a grotto: boots and helmet walking through a creek under 14 meter rock! Fantastic I really liked this grotte. It has a really interesting story but I will not detail it for you, since you should come and visit. Make sure you reserve your spot in advance since the has limited availability. It takes about 40 minutes, but make sure you bring a jacket since below ground it's pretty cool - 14°. Oh and you are not allowed to take photos or videos once you enter the grotto. Very friendly guide, cool gear to wear! The was very beautiful! A pleasant little along the underground cavern. Interesting little history. Cool off the was a nice relief from the heat of summer. Not spectacular, but worth a if you're in the area. The kids (9&11)loved it. Good value for money. We had a delightful of the Grotte today, the was wonderful greeting us in English, being Scottish my French isn’t great. Although the is carried out in French we were given an english translation of the before setting off and between this and a basic understanding of French I was able to follow most of what was said by the guide. You are provided with wellingtons and a safety helmet but the grotte is a constant 14C so just dress for a cool day. You’re not allowed to take photographs but I’d recommend a if you like walking along an underground river in a cave, I did. And it’s best to book prior to your visit, it’s popular. In one of your reviews you replied (and I quote) : “Hello, thanks for your comment! However as your told you before and during the pictures and videos are forbidden by law in the cave. This rule is made to prevent traces of mould...” Could you kindly identify and explain this “law” As a photographer I am aware that in a lot of establishments FLASH photography is not allowed BUT photography WITHOUT flash is allowed So please tell me what “law” you are referring to and confirm you are not misinterpreting a “law” designed solely to protect artefacts from FLASH lights Thank you Nice cave, good guide. Only in French though but they gave us an English handout. Helmets and boots are provided on site. A with a difference. You are given waterproof, knee length boots and a helmet with a lamp because you walk through a stream for whole visit. Our was very informative, slowed her French down and was great with the children. Highly recommended The is worth the detour if you’re visiting Bordeaux. I’m not sure why their website says that they have no English as ours was (thank you Larissa). Informative and thorough. There isn’t too much else to do in the city but as it’s only about a thirty minute drive from Saint-Emilion, it’s simple to make a part of your day. Reservations essential.
