Made eye contact with the serving staff and sat at an outside table with our dog. We waited nearly 10 minutes and we're not approached by the staff. If our dog was the problem, we would have put her back in the car. They only had to say. As it was, we left without having a lunch. Perhaps they are wealthy enough to not need paying customers. One star is being over generous. Tranquille place abord the river. I had a beer and watched canoës pass, along with paddle boards, boats and the odd couple of swans. There were caravans there though I couldn't tell you the details. The beer was fresh and food is served at the regular French timings. We came late in the afternoon only to find that service for food had ended so we returned in the evening. Luckily the sun came out and we had a wonderful evening by the river. The mussels were fabulous as was the cafe gourmand and the profiteroles. Service was also excellent. Thank you to all the staff especially for speaking to us in French so we could practice. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area Only had a drink and an ice cream sundae but what a beautiful location beside the river. The menu looks good and not expensive. Only open May to September but well worth a visit if you are in the area. Always a pleasant place to spend some time in . If you just want a quick drink on a sunny day , it's perfect. If you feel like having a long lunch overlooking the Charente River, it's equally perfect . A no frills place with amazing views. Recommended. Service not great to start. Felt a bit invisible, however once they got under way, burgers were good and staff pleasant. Great setting on the banks of the Charente. Passe sanitaires were viewed on pur phones but not scanned! ?? A lovely riverside restaurant. The samosa (cheese filled ) on an apple salad set the tone for a lovely meal. The mussels everyone else had were fresh and excellent. All of this was outdone by the mousse au chocolat. A large shared between two was amazing, but I remain glad that I selfishly had mine all to my self.
