It was a relaxing slow meander through the countryside with lovely views. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and were quick to help my wife who has slight mobility difficulties. There is a wheelchair friendly carriage with a lift if needed. The train was half full and all adults given the time of year. I can imagine in the height of summer the carriages will be packed which will restrict leg room with the wooden seating arrangements. We had a very good trip as the weather was very good. Seats a bit hard for an hour and a half each way! Plenty of space, so not crowded in the carriages. Disabled carriages available. A lovely way to spend a few hours. A rickety train with wooden slat seats but the smell of the steam engine and the experience is well worth the price. We had lunch in Saujon. As we were travelling in early September at the end of school holidays, the train was not at all busy. Our hotel hosts suggested we sit in the first carriage and this was a great suggestion as we could stand in the front of the carriage and see the beautiful French countryside and also the change of Engines from steam to diesel. For the enthusiast there are old steam engines and old diesel engines pulling revamped old carriages. If you're not a railway enthusiast there's great scenery and wildlife to keep you entertained. You can also stop off to visit Mornac sur Seudre one of the prettiest villages in France with lots of restaurants and boutiques. The railway is run by very professional volunteers and their love of the railway shines through.
