From 12-1400 they serve lunch and offer a daily lunch menu. Great stop after a hike or walk along the river. Showed up on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with spouse and baby for a cake and after a 40-minute drive. Terrace was 3/4 EMPTY but they turned us away saying they won’t take any new customers because there is a group inside. Seriously!? Unreal. SOME SUGGESTIONS TO MANAGEMENT: (1) instead of turning people away saying “we’re too busy,” simply tell people that service might be slower than usual and ask if they’re okay with that before sitting down. We would have happily sat there for a while and enjoyed the garden. (2) tell people “Sorry but we’re only able to serve 8 tables on the terrace today due to the group we have inside so if you’re willing to wait until someone leaves, we will be able to serve you then.” How hard would that be??? (3) update your website to say that you’re closed for a special event so that people don’t drive more than half an hour only to be refused service. And no, in case you’re wondering, I’m not an American, and I have no connection to the air base. Please note that we actually planned to call and reserve a table before driving there but the website specifically says they don’t take reservations for cake/coffee time and to just come by. Great place to sit outdoors or indoors- they sell their own beans and other seasonal goodies as German and Italian sweets, local honey, German syrups and liquors, soaps, creams...They have the place which serves cakes and simple sandwiches and it's open as stated on Google and they have the restaurant part, which serves breakfast buffet on the weekends and dinner on special occasions- for these you should make a reservation in advance. I called to make reservations and they asked me to come after 11:00 because breakfast ended in one and half hour, from the start that was a red flag. I came to the location which is 22 minutes away and the place is very cozy. The breakfast buffet had a good spread. Now what killed it for me was the service. During the one and half hour I was there they came to my table twice. One to take the order the second to drop off the food. Never checked on us, never clear our table from the buffet plates, meanwhile they visited every table around me. Felt like I was not welcomed there. I had so much expectations for this place and it let me down. my family and I wouldn't recommend the cheesecake in any flavour, it was a bit tough and the crust was oddly wet and raw. Drinks and food were equally very overpriced especially considering the quality. The cashier asked us to bring our cups and plates behind the counter which we wouldn't have minded if it was a smaller business, but it was worse combined with the cashiers monotone attitude.
