Overall it was a great experience living in Vichy and studding in Cavilam. I spent 3 months in the summer of 2011 learning French here. I also stayed with a host family. I had the best time ever! It was so much fun, and I went from no knowledge of French to B1 in 3 months! Made also very good friends and had a blast overall. Highly recommended! I spent four weeks studying French in the intensive program at Cavilam located in the city of Vichy, France. Every teacher I had was skilled and made the lessons engaging for us. I would highly recommend it if you want to improve your French and be part of a collegiate environment. They offer home-stays with a French family, which I did or you have the option of renting an apartment. I spent a week at CAVILAM, and if only I could - I would stay much longer. The school is a wonderful place - both in terms of teachers and the educational programme, and organisation and additional attractions proposed to students and participants. Highly recommendable - both the school and the hosting family assured by the school. I had a great time at Cavilam, the teachers were excellent, and I learned a lot! However, I had a very bad experience when changing workshops with someone in the office in charge of managing our learning. She was particularly unpleasant and rude, taking advantage of our beginner level in French, which discouraged my classmates from speaking to the administration when they needed to. That was the worst part of my experience at Cavilam for me as well as for many of my classmates. We are here to improve our French, not to be brushed off when we have problems. I attended the "perfectionnement linguistique" program at Cavilam for 2 weeks in the summer of 2025. It was an UNREAL experience that truly helped me to perfect my French skills and where I met individuals from all over the world. The countless excursion options also allowed you to explore the surrounding area in an incredible way! I stayed with a host family while I was there and she was so respectful and welcoming. Vichy is a kind city that accepts you where you are at with your French learning. Everyone that I met was keen to speak French with you and help you build your skills. All of the surrounding restaurants, art exhibits and stores were lovely and I definitely immersed myself fully into the culture. Two weeks was amazing, but if I could have stayed longer I would have! The professors I had and the program that's been developed at Cavilam allows you to truly grow in your French skills and propels you to continue the learning even after returning home!
