We popped in towards the end of our 16km walk today for a beer. Dogs are welcome which is always a thing and we had 2 pints of Camden Pale Ale which was really nice. A and welcoming pub. Brilliant! So, I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw the I was a bit disappointed as I just wanted a quick snack and the looked a bit more filling pub, with the lunch being bot on at the weekend. However, after selecting a Sizzling Honey Chilli Chicken, sitting down with a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord and taking in the environment I loved this place. The were exceptionally helpful and and welcomed my dog Shadow giving him a bowl of water that he lapped up as he had been on a lengthy walk. The pub looks with a nice homely feel and a open fire on the far wall. The food is absolutely excellent and clearly whoever prepares and cooks the meals takes immense pride in them and you can tell. Everytime a sizzler comes out the smell is amazing and it's an exciting g experience to see it taken to the table and get a breath of Chilli as it passes by. Definitely a recommended place to visit for a meal. What a place to stop half way round a long country walk. It’s the perfect spot for a sunny afternoon or a cozy evening out. The drink selection is solid—great pints of lager and ales, and according to my wife, the cocktails are delicious. But the real star of the show is the food. Wow—every dish we’ve tried has been fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. If you haven’t been here yet, do yourself a favor and put this pub at the top of your list. It’s quickly become one of my favorite spots in the area! Food was great, really good. Veg is served separately to share between you, never really keen on that, had to ask for serving spoons (and got desert spoons) as had nothing to dish the veg out with. Being a bit picky but my main gripe was the tall dark haired male server that was incapable of passing my chair without kicking it or walking into it even though I had it pulled right in, and the way he threw the food at us. Loved it ! Definitely gi back and would definitely 👌 This was my first visit. We had hearty portions of tasty food. Portions sizes hearty, and the food is delicious, a cut above standard ‘pub food’, this is a chef/team that know what they are doing! The flavours are ingredients are fresh and combined so well. My belly pork bites with crispy crackling delivered with a wonderfully seasoned pickled salad, other starters of Brie and pigs in blankets, duck Bao and chicken tenders were tasty too. The mains were ranging from fresh Venison (good sized portion), and satay and Thai curries which were and had the subtleties of flavour needed in Thai/Malaysian cuisine, and the home made were to die for. All delivered by enthusiastic in a setting, would highly recommend. But you probably need to book!
