Multiple flights of steps, could be inaccessible for some people, offer chance to see different rooms and the roof with 360° views. We did the Easter egg hunt and it was great, lots of guides around to tell you everything you need to know about its history etc, great views from the top too although depending on your mobility it might be tricky to navigate the very tight and steep staircases to the different levels. This was such an atmospheric tower and there were so many interesting items inside plus some beautiful paintings of the previous owners. The guides were helpful and friendly too. Easy to get to with convenient parking. The tower has some historical charm, but overall it’s not as interesting as other National Trust for Scotland places I’ve been to. Nice enough if you’re nearby, but probably not worth a long journey just for this. Alloa Tower is a superb Scottish Tower hidden away in the sleepy town of Alloa. Once the seat of the Erskine Family, the Earls of Mar it has been sympathetically restored over the last 30 years to much of its original beauty. The volunteers and staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. They will paint a vivid picture of what life was like in yesteryear. First visit to Alloa Tower using my National Trust Membership. Surprised how tall it was, over 100 steps to climb to get to the top. We managed and worth the view, looking over to Stirling Castle, hills and River Forth. outstanding little museum and packed full of history. the staff my wife and I spoke to were exceptionally knowledgeable about the whole site and even told us about some of the many ghost stories attached to the tower as well as the family curse.
