Spent a day in Callendar and saw The Woodside as we drove in so decided to stop in on the way back - really glad we did! Staff were brilliant, very friendly and attentive. We sat outside as we had some sunshine! Lots of seating in and out. Being dog friendly is a huge plus - Fergus got some lovely sausages! John had the pan seared salmon and I had the pepperoni and hot honey pizza - all the food was delicious and nice and hot! Price was really - would definitely recommend and come back! Had lunch here. Beautiful room, nicely decorated and comfortable. Staff pleasant and helpful. Food was delicious. I had the steak swiss cheese and mushroom ciabatta and thoroughly enjoyed it. The lemon tart was excellent too. Wee bit pricey, but the food quality was worth it. We'll be happy to return any time. We enjoyed 2 nights at The Woodside for a birthday weekend away. First time here and would definitely come back. Around 50 minutes drive from home we arrived on Friday evening and easily parked in the large car park out front. Checked in and up to our on the 1st floor which was nice, spacious and had everything we needed, only one slight niggle was limited hanging space for clothes. We booked dinner in the Woodside over the 2 nights which is recommended as it can get busy, there's plenty choice on the menu food and drink wise and all tasty dishes. Staff are attentive and we enjoyed both nights at dinner. The restaurant also has the fully stocked bar with plenty seats, after a cold winter walk on Saturday afternoon to the castle and Doune circular we managed to snap up prime position beside the log fire for some afternoon drinks. Breakfast choices are good, there's a standard menu included in the rate which is more than adequate, and a further paid menu, we tried both options over the 2 morning's and all good. Overall a nice and relaxing weekend away, with a bit sight seeing, and food and drink. Stayed at The Woodside as a stopover on our way home. Can highly recommend, stand out feature - the lovely, welcoming, hardworking staff. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Room was comfortable, spacious and contemporary. Ate in the restaurant and food was superb with a menu choice, plus specials. Breakfast included offering: cereals, pastries, fruit, eggs on sourdough, bacon ciabatta etc. If you wanted something more substantial then there was a small additional cost. The complimentary goodies in the were a thoughtful touch and the was clean, spacious and easy to access. Dinner was spectacular, with delicious and beautifully presented dishes. Then breakfast was plentiful and freshly prepared, making for a perfect start to our day. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive making us feel very welcome. A truly enjoyable stay with outstanding food and service! Will definitely be returning! Awesome service, wonderful generous breakfast included in price didn't know till we got there. Snacks in the complimentary - such a special touch. Great location with parking. 100% would recommend. on the small side and lacking chairs. Excellent shower room, comfortable bed. Dining was if a bit utilitarian. Having driven past Doune on several occasions, we found the village has a few very shops and cafes.
