We did let her know we were taking a bus and she accommodated our time restrictions as best she could which we really appreciated especially given how busy it was. My husband had an 11/10 burger. I had the and scampi. Absolutely delicious and probably some of the best I’ve ever had. We will visit again the next time we’re in Scotland. Took relatives for lunch and they live near here so first time for me, they’ve been many times. Absolutely amazing haddock and chips. Very old school restaurant near the sea. Like a proper step back in time. Parking isn’t the easiest but we got a space as you drive towards the castle and walked back, very short distance. Overall the food was excellent but I have 2 tiny gripes. I prefer mushy peas. And they served the excellent apple pie cold. No offer to have it warm as I prefer. But we later discovered the server, bless him, was his first shift and he probably just forgot. Not the end of the world though as that pie was delicious. I’m giving the restaurant full 5 stars because it genuinely was a pleasure. Top tip is book beforehand. We did and it was a good job as the place was rammed busy. Took a trip to blackness castle a few weeks ago with my partner and stopped in here for some lunch after a recommendation from a friend. Absolutely lovely place, was nice and quiet, tables were well spaced out, service was very quick, friendly and attentive. The main two selling points were the decor, very quirky with a nautical theme with lots to look at and discuss over a meal and the food itself. Unfortunately neither my partner nor I are big on seafood which is this place's speciality but I had the macaroni and my partner had a burger and both were excellent, very generous portions, obviously freshly made with high quality ingredients, would definitely recommend if you are in the area. While we were there it was quite a wet miserable day so we sat inside but it has a lovely exterior seating section out the back which would be fantastic on a hot day (rare in Scotland though they be) Really love it! Is a great place , very cozzy and great atmosphere. The staff were very nice and the food, was one of the best seafood plates that I have had ;) . And the presentation as well, lovely.
