Can’t believe the management at Cameron House have not addressed any of the issues raised by customers on both TripAdvisor or Google reviews. It’s a disgrace that this establishment continues to extract money from unsuspecting customers for services which are obviously not fit for purpose. The Carrick Spa has rapidly gone down hill and standards within the spa leave a lot to be desired …. How can they possibly call this a 5 star spa resort ? Couldn’t be more disappointed … unclean and poorly maintained. Upon arrival we were the roof top was out of action - this was the main attraction of the spa us but I do understand these things happen. From reading other reviews though, it seems like this has been the case for a while… Heading into the very small changing room, we were greeted by a big pile of dirty towels overflowing the laundry bin. Lots of lockers weren’t working (apparently this standard). We were there should be a towel and robe in the lockers - there wasn’t, we had to go searching for some. Once we got to the spa, it wasn’t just the that was out of order, but also one of the saunas and shower in the middle. This coupled with letting too many in at the one time made the spa cramped and definitely not relaxing. There were used papers cups everywhere left from taking water, mould on the ceiling, unclean floors, luke-warm jacuzzi. Toilets were a mess, as were the showers which we had to queue for (one out of - surprise surprise). Shower gel/shampoo/conditioner in the shower all empty. Loads of hair in the drains. And again, due to letting too many in, piles of dirty towels and lockers that don’t work, it was a rammy in the small changing trying to get ready. Why is there not regularly keeping things clean/tidy/topped up and generally as it should be? Definitely would not go back, waste of money. Wasn’t expecting that from a spa connected to Cameron House… It's a way to spend the day. Hydro is to relax in, the sauna & caldarium have lovely views over the golf course and the aroma steam is good too. However the place is in huge need of refurbishment. The IR sauna and the showers in the spa are both out of so you can't rinse off after a sauna/steam without going all the way back in to the changing rooms. Other parts of the suite are run down/damaged in places too. The real downer is that the on the roof is completely out of order. We were when we arrived that "they had found that half of the water drained" when they got in that morning and we'd be if it would reopen. Judging by other reviews this has been the case for at least the past month. We went up to the seating on the roof for some fresh air and it's fairly obvious this hasn't been used for a while now. It's quite poor that you aren't warned this is out of at the point of booking or any point before your arrival. I booked the Spoil Me package for me and my sister for her 40th birthday and we went on Friday 7th March. Everything was fine, the on the bottom floor was slightly dated and needs a freshen up. The hydro area was very nice. Although the red light was out of so we couldn’t it. The outside was lovely albeit a bit cold for March but can imagine it would be very popular during the summer months. The isn’t very big. We went for a 2 course lunch and the food was delicious and service from the waiting 5 star. We were to go to the spa waiting for our treatments at 2pm. 2:20 and still no say hello as they walk passed or ask what we are waiting for. I had to ask them to check the time we are booked in to be it was 2:30. Once taken into my treatment I had the most awful experience. My therapist Suzanne was pleasant to begin with and talked me through the treatment plan.first 30mins prone was enjoyable although I was only asked once the full 2 hours how the pressure was and that was 15mins into the massage. Once I was turned supine there was no support given for my joints and no pillow placed under my knees which after a while started to hurt me and I began feeling restless. I had a 1 hour facial which to begin with was enjoyable but it felt quite repetitive and just too long. Part of the treatment was a scalp which after 10mins I was really restless especially in my legs and my hip started to hurt and I just wasn’t really enjoying (it’s just not my thing and that’s ok) so I asked her politely to stop in a very way. She removed her hands immediately and never spoke a word, so for a few minutes it was dark and silent, it got very awkward so after a few minutes I asked her if we were finished and she abruptly said no but we can finish early if you want, again politely I said yes let’s just finish. She slapped off the eye pads and finished my facial before telling me to meet her outside and stormed out the room. I got off the couch myself thinking wow she is fuming. :-( Met her outside only to be shown the door, she basically threw me out 🙈 no questions asked if I enjoyed my treatment or if there was a problem. Just acted rather unprofessional and went in a huff like a petulant child. Had she asked I could have her it just wasn’t for me, no criticism against her. I left feeling quite upset, confused and questioning if I had done the right thing, a really bad way to end a spa day after spending the full day and £250 of my money. ( £500 for the two of us) When we handed our locker key back into reception again no questions were asked if we enjoyed our day nothing they simply don’t care if customers have a experience, it’s like a rotating door. I wouldn’t recommend and certainly won’t be returning, which is a shame since it’s supposed to be 5 star. The 2 stars I give here are for the lovely cafe food and staff. Also the cleaner in the locker room, she was more friendly than any of the spa we spoke to. Extremely Disappointing Experience We had high expectations for Cameron House Spa, but unfortunately, the was extremely disappointing. The facility was dirty, with mold visible on the ceilings and light fixtures, which we’ve included in a photo from the men’s changing room. We couldn’t capture the spa itself since phones aren’t allowed, but the lack of cleanliness was shocking. Hair bands and dirt were scattered around, and several showers and saunas were out of use, significantly reducing the space we could use. Many of the lockers were broken, adding to the overall sense of disrepair. The booking process was also very confusing. My partner had purchased vouchers as a gift, but we never received an email confirmation and had to call to get the to find our reference numbers. Despite repeatedly stating how “busy” it was, there were only around 20 at the facility by our count. Despite this there was a stressful atmosphere… bizarre given the place is supposed to be about relaxation! Overall, the wasn’t worth the time we spent driving there, let alone the money. We won’t be returning. We visited the spa on the 14th Feb 2025 for the Ultimate Couple Spa Day, a Valentine’s Day treat as we were staying at Cameron House hotel for a few days. Alarm bells started ringing when I received a voicemail at 9pm on the 13th saying they’d had an issue with the water heating in the & jacuzzis and that they might be unavailable but everything else was ok. We duly turned up the next morning to be that the & jacuzzis were out of but the temperature was “within tolerance” As we filled out our treatment forms there were a few coming in to book the spa but just walked out after being how little was working. We followed the receptionist to the changing rooms and were shocked at how run down the whole of the spa is, peeling paint, a water wall that doesn’t look like it’s worked for years, rusty fittings, cobwebs, broken tiles & stained walls/roofs. The floors looked like they hadn’t been swept for months with tumbleweeds of hair rolling about when you walk through the corridors. In the changing I was warned by a member that the place was falling to bits and that they’d been complaining to the management for months about the state of the facilities, he laughed when I said we were only late the previous night there were problems and that these had been ongoing for months. He had also just tried using the and said not to bother unless you like getting hypothermia. We had booked a couples which had its own jacuzzi bath & steam room, we were to rub cleansing mud on our skin before going into the steam room, the mud was freezing cold and dried instantly so most of it fell off, this just added to the dirt & debris already on the floor. The steam was terrible, barely any steam and looked dirty & run down with peeling paint, stalagtites hanging off the top of the door frame & broken shower fittings. The therapists came in and were shocked at the mess of dried mud on the floor, we explained what happened and one went to check with the spa manager only to be “Yeah we’re aware there’s a problem with the cleansing mud” Ok so why have you not done something about it? No answer. The therapists were brilliant, really pleasant ladies and great at their job. After our treatments we were shown into the relaxation but again it looked run down & tired with the obligatory hair tumbleweeds everywhere. We checked out the steam rooms but again everything looked dirty & run down, the showers were also cordoned off as they were out of so we cut our losses and decided to leave. It was then that it dawned on us there was only another 4 using the spa, obviously are voting with their feet. We bumped into the receptionist when we were leaving and said how disappointed we were with the state of the spa, his response was well the hotel has a & jacuzzi! Really!? We had a light lunch in the restaurant which was but again it was deserted and we were the only there. So to sum up I paid almost £500 for a bath, a & a light lunch. It is a joke that this place is advertised as a luxury spa with world class, award winning facilities when in reality it is dilapidated, run-down & dirty. We’ve been coming to Cameron lodges for 10 years. And I’m sorry to say but the spa side of why you book these lodges is a disgrace. The so called heated pools are colder than the loch the spa faces onto. When we complained we were met with oh I’m sorry they should be ok, but it is running a little cooler than normal. THAN NORMAL! It’s so cold that anyone who stepped foot into the instantly made an exit. What’s worse the hydro indoors is just as cold. It’s a disgrace when you think you’re spending over 1k to stay here. No real explanation or apology just here is a voucher to use another time. We’ve driven 6 hours from south of England to be here: it’s not like it’s on our doorstep to use again. The lodges are great as per. Looking run down in places but overall they are great. Customer service caused low review: My partner and I booked to have two deep muscle massages and then a meal in the club house next door after. The morning of our booking Cameron House called me and left a message asking me to call back. When I called back the first person I spoke to was quite snappy with me and I didn't know why. Once they patched me through to the spa they said one of their employees giving the was sick so they could only give one massage. After some silence I said well there is two of us so that doesn't help. There was no apology or offer to how to fix it, so I said we can we come tomorrow then. (we were able to do that and they booked us in, but we both had used an annual leave day to go on the original day, so no apology for cancelling last minute was not appreciated). When we showed up the next day they got our booking wrong and said one of us was in for a Swiss massage. I showed the booking that it was for two deep muscle. Turns out the person who had rebooked us had got it wrong. The employee at the front desk explained that they only had one masseuse in who was qualified to give a deep muscle, so they couldn't do what we originally booked for. Again there was a silence, no apology, no offer to fix, so I said I guess I will have the Swiss one. After they could sense we were not happy they did then offer a 20% discount which I was appreciative of. The Swiss was and the masseuse was very knowledgeable and lovely. But at the end of the day it was not what I wanted and didn't achieve the deep treatment I was after. At the club house we had a voucher for a three course meal. At the start of the night an employee came up saying we had two courses on our voucher, I showed it to them to say how that was wrong, they did apologise and say of course you do have for three. Once we had eaten, they tried to charge us for the third course. So I had to explain again my voucher covered it. They immediately took it off for us. Overall, it was just one thing after the other that went wrong. Food was lovely, place was lovely, but poor customer service so I will not be returning. I expected 5 star Glen eagles service which was not provided.
