I was looking forward to playing here as I've played other courses in the area in the past, but I was sadly left really disappointed with the of the course. The tee beds are badly damaged and a mess the fairways are also full off divots that haven't been repaired and then the worst part of the game was the of the greens, they were terrible. I don't know how the keeps its members if the course is in this bad of a especially in the summer months. Sorry to say but I wouldn't be rushing back anytime soon to play here again. Was here for an engagement party. Thought everything went very well. Setup was great and were perfect. Really zero wait time and bar was nicely stocked. Plenty of wide fairways, and some holes but sadly all us were of the same opinion that it wasn't that exciting and not worth £40. Glad we didn't the normal rate of £60 2nd hole had a temporary green with a flag and the grass hadn't even been cut !!! The clubhouse is classic, with all the tradition you'd expect—wood-paneled walls, artifacts from golf’s early days, and the kind of quiet pride that doesn’t need to boast. You know where you are. The course itself is wild in the best way. Prestwick is not about symmetry or predictability. It’s a 6,500-yard maze of blind shots, rumpled fairways, hidden bunkers, and eccentric design choices that would never make it past a modern architect. But that’s the charm. The 1st hole starts with a tee shot over a stone wall—a bold opening that sets the tone. The 3rd hole, “Cardinal,” is iconic, with a massive, menacing bunker that forces you to think three shots ahead. Then there’s the 17th, “Alps,” which has you hitting blind over a towering dune to a green you can’t see. It’s maddening and brilliant. Prestwick is short by modern standards, but don’t let that fool you. It demands precision, not power. It punishes poor strategy and rewards creativity. You’ll need to think your way around the course, adapt to the wind, and make peace with a few odd bounces. The of the course is excellent, but not in a sterile, over-manicured way. The greens are true, the fairways tight, and the fescue rough is no joke if you stray too far. There’s an authenticity to the terrain—you feel like this is how is meant to be played, shaped by nature, not machines. Service is professional without being overbearing. The respects the game and expects you to do the same. There’s no flash, just substance. It’s worth mentioning that Prestwick is a private with limited visitor tee times, so you’ll need to plan ahead. But if you can get on, it’s worth every effort. Prestwick isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t try to be. Some holes are quirky to the point of confusion, and if you’re not into blind shots, you might get frustrated. But that’s part of the deal. This is from another era, and it challenges you to meet it on its terms. In a world where many courses chase the same slick, formulaic design, Prestwick stands alone. It’s a course that embraces its history, quirks, and identity without compromise. For golfers who value the soul of the game over style points, it’s a must-play. No complaints, would play here again. Great option for a parkland course in Ayr. Nice place reasonable prices Great entrance amd great service in main bar upstarts price are and quick service. There is so much more to this above and beyond its wonderful Course. So promote this Venue as its first class to be a Member and privilege to use its Excellent facilities. Great course. Very flat. Excellent service from start to finish, from the pro shop to the bar were very helpful and the course was really as well Nice course and are friendly but the winter rule here of playing mats even out of the rough is a joke, I do hope the will come into line with what are the norms of other Prestwick and Ayrshire clubs and get the members base back as it needs support and I’d love to join but with daft rules like that, I wouldn’t bother. Played yesterday, loved the course, greens were excellent , risk or reward or play to dogleg. Very welcome on arrival, catering/ bar very very good. Would recommend this course to anyone. Left my gps on buggy, committee could not have been more helpful on its successful retrieval. Thank you Alex. someone i know ordered a package and it arrived late as their delivery driver played here instead of delivering the package. i do not recommend this place i think it should be shut down. (this is a joke) So enjoyed the cabaret evening at the last night. Fantastic menu from Ghillie Dhu. Food was delicious and service was great. Well done to Michael and his kitchen staff. We loved it! Also many thanks to all the hard working bar who kept the drink flowing. 👏👏 ⭐️🌟😃 From the minute we arrived the welcome was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The course was in great given the time of year and the cold winter. Having not played the course for 20+ years I was really impressed with massive improvements to virtually every hole. It kept testing us without being a slog and importantly you really were not conscious of other games on the course as the trees have matured to define the holes. I would recommend the course to anyone.
