Stayed in an apartment and would have preferred a especially as it wasn't dog friendly, all doors swing shut very quickly which caught us out a few times. Plus much smaller than a caravan. The itself was very good. Entertainment area was brilliant if a bit weather warn. facilities for the whole family. Recommended (but get a caravan) has everything you need to not leave the site. Its very big and dependant on where you is its a long walk to the amenities or the beach. Ideal holiday if you like busy sites that you dont want to leave. The area itself outside the is ok but doesn't have much nearby. We like exploring and walking so for us was limited. The are very helpful and friendly and the food is lovely and very reasonable priced in the Brig of Ayr. The waterpark is and has a few areas but alot were closed for activities when we went. The poets however were awful in the pool area with black stains all under the seats. The beach is maybe could do with more sign posts. The was lovely and bay view 301 and had all the relavent items even an aor fryer. We were about 10 mins walk in either direction to the complex or the beach. As im sure we came in monsoon season the area around us flooded quite badly making it hard to get out of either on foot or by car. We had a nice holiday but it wasn't for us we would have preferred a quieter site. 4 night break with friends. Wife and I are seasoned travellers, we look for cheap Haven deals to use as a Base for touring ad sightseeing. Craig Tara is ideally placed for exploring this part of the West Scotland coastline with plenty of places to see nearby. Cumbrea Island is worth the cost of the 10 minute ferry crossing and is a delightful little island to drive around for the day. Beware though that many places are closed on Tuesdays. Although we use Haven for accommodation only the is very popular for families with young children. It is also one of the bigger Haven sites so you can be a long way from friends unless you pay extra to choose your in advance. In our experience the caravans are always clean, well maintained and have all the necessary facilities. We reported a lighting fault in our ad it was fixed by the we returned to our van in the evening. There are plenty of on activities, entertainments and food outlets. An package is needed for some of the activities but details are clearly explained on the Haven website. This is a fantastic location. It's a different story to Seaton Sands Haven on the east coast. There are pros and cons to this park. It's within driving distance of Glasgow (1 hour) and Ayer is about 15-20 minutes. Glasgow isn't a touch on Edinburgh (which is a 2 hour drive) but there are plenty of natural and historical sights within driving distance. The beach really needs cleaning up. It's a receading coast line and there's a lot of debris falling away with it. It has the largest amusement of any haven we've been too. There's one lounge for grown ups and another for what I would call family entertainment. The plus side of this iz anyone of any age go visit both lounge. On the hole, Rage Tara is a fantastic site. My kids loved the and the 5 different choices of food vendors. We will be back. Excellent Stay at Craig Tara, Ayr We had a wonderful stay at Craig Tara near Glasgow. The location is great—easy to reach and close enough for exploring the surrounding areas, yet peaceful and relaxing. The itself was very clean, well-kept, and organized, which made our stay comfortable from the start. It came fully equipped with everything we needed for cooking, including pots, pans, utensils, and a good-sized fridge and freezer for storing food. This made it easy to prepare meals, which was very convenient for our family. Overall, the was spacious, tidy, and felt like a real home away from home. I would definitely recommend Craig Tara in Ayr to anyone looking for a clean, well-equipped, and family-friendly place to stay. We really enjoyed our here and would be happy to return! Had a lovely weekend stay in a Bronze 3 caravan. We had Bluetooth speakers built into the caravan, nice mood lighting and a well equipped kitchen. The were really friendly and the facilities were great. Chopstix is our new favourite and you can get any food delivered to your accommodation. There's a lot to do in the if you've got younger kids. The beach was easily accessible and quite busy, even though we visited in April. Would definitely come back. The is on a hill but there is a little train that goes around regularly for a small fee so it's not too hard to get around. Camp was & well spaced out. Service was considering how busy the weekend was 👍 kids had a time! Swimming pool the main highlight for them, props to the amount of lifeguards at the pool side, Children are in safe hands. Prices throughout the were reasonable & the Nissa shop was well stocked. Just back from a long weekend at Craig Tara, our first going, and we had a time. We arrived late, but this was really straight-forward to sort out. I used the app and were welcomed by well organised who were smiling despite the abysmal weather we arrived in. It was tricky to find our caravan, but we were placed somewhere without drive up access and it was dark. Once we found the path in and got our torches out, there were no issues. The beds were made and clean, as was the bathroom. There were some dirty dishes put away in the kitchen cupboards, but I think this will be down to earlier guests rather than cleaners. One thing I was concerned about was staying warm - I shouldn't have worried. The was toasty warm, in fact it got too hot for us! There were some maintenance issues, the microwave was missing part of the carousel and the oven was missing the seal (may have been part of the reason we go too hot)! There were also a few basics missing - I had expected a tin opener, bottle opener, fish slice etc, but they weren't there. I'll be packing my own next we go (think camping, but with furniture and heating). I had read the info beforehand and knew we had to take our own towels and washing up gear etc so there was no problem there. My 9-year-old had an absolutely brilliant time. The activities are perfect for his age group. He loved the junior segways, roller disco and the aerial adventure. The activities were kind and patient, and we really appreciated their approach (especially Kieran at the junior segways & roller disco and Katie on the aerial adventure). The pool was well organised and felt very safe. Again, the lifeguards were kind, but firm and as parents we felt reassured by this. The was fun - the 'Haven Cast' were great, as were the Elves. All the we interacted with were fabulous - from security, the bar staff, as well as the activities - they get 5-stars. The caravans could do with some work, but I still feel that we got value for money. All up, we had a and will be back. After reading reviews we had the fear coming for our holiday but I can honestly say we had the best time. We left this morning. The was spotless! Decking, beautiful view. We couldn't complain. We had 5 kids to entertain and there was something for everyone. The aqua inflatable is definitely worth the money. Life guards were brilliant. Aqua jets were too but I recommend taking a nose plug for the nose holders 💯 The swimming pool was by far the best I've been to in Scotland for sure. We had a blast!! Build a bear party was great, were all lovely encouraging my boy to join in. Night was abit cringe if I'm honest but the younger kids loved it. Recommend local chip shop "Fish plus chips Ayr". Brilliant food, fish was lovely. Ice cream shack was too, big for the money. We also ate on one night at the restaurant "Brigs of Ayr" alittle over priced and they served us the world's smallest apple juice 😂 but over all, we had a time. Beds made up on arrival but in the morning the bed was full of dog hairs, they hadn't changed the bedding. wasn't very and smelt badly, and table and work tops were sticky the cleaning standards are very poor. Club is prices a bit on the high side and lots of things for the kids. This was our first at Craig Tara and it will be our last. We had booked for the Easter holidays. We booked a dog friendly caravan. First of all there was no seals on the door which if you’ve been to a haven before they always seal the door so you know it’s been cleaned-apparently they don’t do this anymore? Questionable as others complaining in the queue had broke seals on their doors. The smell of the was something else and that’s with all the windows open too, the carpet was BLACK and stained my little boy took his trainers off for literally 2 minutes and they were also black. There was food all over the work top and in the sink. The whole place looked like it needed to be deep cleaned. There toilet seat was yellow with pee all over it. There was bird poo on the windows looked like it had been there for months. Overall it was disgusting. We went to reception to ask to be moved or upgraded shock the didn’t have anything else available. I asked for a refund which I was told they couldn’t give me because it’s in their terms and conditions, don’t know if the are aware of consumer rights ?? Maybe train them on that. Whilst standing in the massive queue of people waiting to complain and hearing their horror stories some family had found drugs in their caravan. How lovely. After going back and forward with the and manager they agreed to refund me my £300. I’ve never had an experience like this in my life, I honestly cannot believe you take peoples money and make them stay in dirty caravans WITH CHILDREN. Health and safety need to be all over that place. Save your money and go somewhere else unless you want to be ill or stay in a rotten dirty caravan. I recently stayed at this caravan, and while it had some positives, I was quite disappointed with the lack of basic amenities. One major issue was the toilet—there wasn’t even a simple toilet brush, which made cleanliness a challenge. Additionally, there was no hand wash soap or any other essentials that would make the stay feel comfortable, like at home. These small details matter, especially when staying in a place for a few days. Apart from that, the itself was functional, but the absence of these basic necessities made the experience less convenient. It would be much better if the owners provided at least some essential items for hygiene and comfort. I hope they take this feedback into account, as these small improvements could make a big difference for future guests.
