Fantastic food, lovely service, nice design and atmosphere. The food was great, we both had the Beef Daube special which was delicious. The beef was perfectly cooked - slow braised in wine - and pulled apart beautifully. Loved the potato pave with haggis layered in the middle, and the vegetables were perfectly cooked - tender but still plenty of firmness. The was lovely, we'd made a request for a table on the booking, and they'd kept two different options back for us so we could decide which we preferred - really thoughtful of them. Our waitress was lovely and friendly, and took care of us. The atmosphere was - beautifully designed, comfy seats, and nice mix of tables and more secluded booths. Nice jazz music at a background volume. Overall we had an excellent and would definitely return. Our first visit to "The Bistro" today 27th February 25. Lovely clean restaurant with beautiful decors. Toilet were very clean too. The only thing I would say was the toilet knob. I was struggling with it cause I have fingers problem. The girl who served us today she was lovely and and too. We would definitely come back here again. After 6 cancelled flights and 16+ hours of flights and layovers, I needed a reason to live again. This food did it! We were able to get food after most other places had closed or were bar-only. This is a small place but has a amount of seating. The bathrooms were very thoughtfully arranged and clean. The food was EASILY the best we had during our 5 days in Scotland, including our time in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The menu is sophisticated and varied. We found a lot to love and there were gluten free options. We considered going back the next evening but decided to give a neighboring place a chance, which turned out to be a mistake. Highly recommend. I wanted to have lunch here. It turned out that you need to reserve a table in advance. Everything was done. We came at the appointed time and got the expected pleasure from the and food. I will come again! Few friends had visited The Bistro and thought we would give it a go. Staff were very and polite and helpful. I was super hungry and needed help with my meal We had a bottle of bubbles and a beer 2 starters, 2 mains and one desert. Starters was very nice. I’m shocked I paid £10 for 1/2 a plate of salad, prawns and sauce was good. I ordered chicken and it was really nice. She ordered fish and that was very tasty We also ordered a side of mac and cheese and we ate 1/4 as it wasn’t that great The ice cream was sooooo and we found the brand and have ordered a few tubs I dropped 1 star mainly of price. I totally understand the cost of running a business but the 1/2 portion of salad will stop me going back. Or maybe I will just order something else Who know The staff were just tho. We sat near a baby and they really looked after the table. A very family place There is road parking or a car park close Save room for the sticky toffee pudding!! Review edited to add: I ended up at the Bistro for the second night in a row. Not because we particularly wanted to, but because they were one of the only places in Ayr open late! However, they did NOT disappoint. My first visit I’d say I maybe second guessed myself and picked menu items that I wouldn’t normally try. They were great, but not my favourite. Second night. We ordered what we wanted to the previous night! The Braised Lamb was EXCELLENT and along with the Bourbon and Peach cocktail, it was delightful. Had another round of that Sticky Toffee Pudding, and happy for a long walk home 🖤 find on our last night in Ayr. Lovely atmosphere, we sat in a booth, I love a booth! Waterlily cocktail, highly recommend. Very varied menu. Tasty bread and olive starter. I was keen to have the beetroot and chickpea burger, the first bite was ok, then it felt heavy and a little tasteless to be honest, shame but it just didn't live up to my hopes. Sister had the fish and it was a chunk, well cooked. The was great, very attentive staff. A fantastic evening with family on a Saturday night. Had the Cullen skink to start which was delicious! And ribeye steak with added king scallops, all cooked perfectly, really enjoyed it. Service was great, nothing too much (although the tap water we had asked for didn't arrive), it was a evening with food. Definitely be back to try more cocktails! The Bistro has hands down the best food and cocktails in Ayr. They also have the best staff- special mention of Caitlyn. She does a Picante Margarita. Came here for lunch on a weekday. and a number of options on the menu. Sea bream dish was excellent - refined flavours, high quality ingredients. Sticky toffee pudding was also great, light and tasty. The and ambiance were absolutely great. Food was as well. However, reflecting back on my experience I truly think the sirloin steak is extremely overpriced. Hear me out - the steak costs £32 (!) and that includes a small (regular sized) steak, a portion of fries, bit of rocket salad with parmesan, a fried mushroom and some tomatoes. You have to pay extra £3 pounds for the sauce! Which I found absolutely not fair. When you're paying £32 for a steak and some fries and salad you really should have a ladle of sauce included in a price. I ended up paying £50 for the in the photo and I think it's a bit too much for a regular restaurant in a small town. Everything else was okay.. Highly recommended! Food absolutely outstanding. Polite service. Nice choice of wine. Chef definitely pay attention to the details and ingredients. Yummy 😋 The Bistro is our favorite restaurant in Ayr for its superb food and service. We visit for work regularly and we make sure to book it every time. We are always made to feel so welcome by staff and the is warm, and professional. The meals are generous in size and excellent in quality with the freshest of ingredients and wonderful combinations of flavours. Highly recommend! From start to finish The Bistro is fine dinning, in an unpretentious but sophisticated setting. Everything on the menu was worth exploring and the cocktails were fantastic. We left full, satisfied, and happy… the waitress (from Australia) was attentive and lovely. 110% recommend! Busy but all staff were attentive and friendly. The food arrived promptly but not rushed and just the right time in between courses. All the food we had was delicious. Scallop starter was stand out, the lamb was melt in the mouth and the Cullen skink was creamy, packed with flavour but not heavy. Good value for money for what we had. Only small thing, wine was a little pricey for the quality but did not take away from the meal. Would recommend to visit. . Been here for many value lunch menus, just had a wonderful joint birthday with my wife. Food is as as we've had all over Europe, is and efficient, atmosphere is relaxed. Not many things to say about Ayr these days unfortunately, but this is definitely one of them.
