This was one of the very few restaurants open in the local area, so we decided to give it a try one Friday evening. The restaurant was upmarket but clean and well presented. were polite but a little too keen to clear plates away and seemed to rush us,even though one of our party was still eating. I ordered the sausage and beef pie, which was very tasty, but I was slightly disappointed with the portion size. The was made to look like I had more food than I did. To warrant the price we paid, the portions should be bigger. Also the menu was quite limited, which was a shame. We ate here as a treat for a special occasion, but I don't think we would eat here again. Our first time visiting souters inn . Was made feel welcome and was showed to our table which we had pre booked as we did think it would be busy for a Sunday afternoon. Too which it was . . We all had a ordered 4 starters and 4 mains which were delicious . Our only concern was the should be more attentive to see if the customers would require more cutlery and drinks . As we had to ask for the cutlery then twice for more drinks once our first drink was finished . And then we had to wait about 10 mins for them being brought to the table .we Would definitely return as the was and couldn't fault it . . Souters Inn is a very well presented place to eat, a tad more upmarket than we're used to but it was a special occasion so we decided to treat ourselves. The food was quite good, I'm not sure I could justify the prices of the food as I had the steamed salmon & the greens were quite underdone, however the sauce and salmon were excellent. The plates are designed to make your portion size look much bigger & the pudding too was but a little on the expensive side. was on point, if even a little too hasty. My father was still eating when someone offered to take away our plates, giving him a slight complex. It was all a little rushed, and bad really. I don't think we would come back on account of the heavy prices etc but I'd certainly say it was a lovely place to go. A wonderful place to celebrate. A couple of years ago I celebrated my daughter's wedding and just days ago Christmas with a whole family. The real British pub and even dogs are welcome. food, perfect location, not over priced, value for money. Been in here several times over the years but tonight was outstanding service. Give the Aussie girl a raise as she provided and it really makes such a difference to be served with a smile and kindness. She even offered to take our twin daughters downstairs to let them choose their own ice cream. All the other should learn from her! On top of this the food was delicious and huge portions. A bit on the pricey side but you get a lot for your money. We popped in with 5 adults and 2 wee ones, and they seated us no problem. The was delicious and we found the atmosphere quite quaint and lovely. We are here from Canada and think this is definitely a hidden gem that must be discovered. and excellent reasonably priced food. Five minute drive from Turnberry, well worth a visit if you’re in the area. Would definitely eat here again. Lovely place. Food was amazing. Nice fire and right country feel about it. Would definitely recommend Just dropp3d in for some lunch here. Sat outside (doogos welcome outside only). We had Cioppino fish soup, cajun fries, calamari and normal fries it was stunning. Highly recommmend Dropped on this place by shear luck and I do mean luck. First disabled parking perfect. The restaurant was ultra clean, spacious, comfortable and welcoming. The were excellent, helpfully, extremely and cheerful. We were show to a table, brought our drink and the menues. Left alone to choose. We had mussels for starter and fillet steak for the main course. The mussels were perfect in their tasty cream and garlic sauce. The steak was cooked to perfection. Everything was pipping hot, tasty, cooked to perfection and lots of it. Will definitely be back there before we go home. It's not the cheapest place BUT it is the BEST VALUE for money we Have ever had. Worth every penny. The was second to none.Thank you to everyone and that included the cleaners for such a job I hope they get to know about my review Came here for lunch on a weekday. Very nice restaurant with service. All fish dishes were excellent. Sides were less impressive, with frozen chips and slightly plain vegetables. Unusual but nice sticky toffee pudding, using cinnamon and ginger. We are regulars for breakfast here but had not been for some weeks and the new ownership has now settled in. We were warmly greeted by Laura who was very welcoming and served us with humour and chat. Interesting design of menu in style of a daily newspaper. We booked a table for four and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Food was fantastic and it’s that they cater to those with coeliac disease too. Most items can be made GF (the exceptions were pasta, burgers, pies and haggis) but this left a large varied menu to choose from. Will definitely travel the 1 hour journey just to come back for dinner! Desserts were too (fish and chips and peanut brittle sundae photographed are GF!) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ place with welcoming atmosphere. food , reasonably priced (travel extensively for work and prices are for the quality of food!). are and this adds to the relaxed atmosphere even when it was reasonably busy👌 Stopped here on the way to Stranraer ferry. The building is stunning inside and out. The are very and welcoming. We will definitely be visiting again. location Food was amazing Staff are brilliant Great with kids 10/10 Popped in for dinner to celebrate my husbands birthday. Lovely interior and very cozy. were and attentive. Ordered starter which was lovely. However, when the main arrived and the waitress left the table I went to move my and burnt my fingers and side of my hand. The was white hot and I mean hot! Had no warning from the waitress. When I finished the and the waitress collected my plate, by which time the had cooled off, I mentioned just how dangerously hot the was. She just laughed and shrugged it off, no apology and to let the chef know. If a child had touched it I'd hate to think of the outcome. Needs addressing before a child is badly burnt. Otherwise, enjoyable and value. Thankyou. As a regular at other establishments owned by the same company I was very disappointed with Souters Inn. The food was nice, but nothing special. The tables are far too close together. We spent most of lunch avoiding being hit by jackets from other patrons. I found the to be quite abrupt and rushed, perhaps Darren from The Highgrove could do a few shifts and show them how it’s done. Definitely not worth the money, I’d rather drive further away than return. We have been regular visitors here for over 6 years because the was always top notch however since the change of ownership in the last few months and set of new the has really gone down hill, the food is as it has always been but slow and don’t seem interested in having to serve you, just not enough waited so long for a round of drinks the was over and the just couldn’t care less. Will probably leave it for a while before returning. We came across this pub looking for a in the area. The food was absolutely delicious and it arrived quickly. A special mention to the who were incredibly professional and during our visit. I went on the 14th August 2025 , had a lovely with my daughter for her birthday. The was delicious and would certainly be back, only thing I would say the wasn’t as attentive and hence why I left a smaller tip. Apart from that I would recommend to family and friends. Fantastic lunch for 4, exceptional food, all dishes looked as as they tasted. Lucky we stopped there heading for ferry. Well done. Look forward to next Scotland trip. Superb. My husband and I dined here and were overwhelmed with everything from walking in to leaving! The ambiance, and food was outstanding! We were staying at Trump Turnberry and were not keen on their menu, taking the gamble with this lovely restaurant and were so glad we did! We will certainly be back❤️ Would never come back here… had to wait for a very long time between meals. They brought our mains out before we finished our starters, the waitress didn’t want to take our mains back, and they then forgot a dessert and failed to bring them when we flagged that they had forgot. Will never be back.
