LG Johannes I had high hopes for our visit to the of Paderne - I did not expect to meet Iwan and his family and to be transported into a mini-paradise, a universe of calm, deep belly laughs, insights into flora, fauna and everything in between. Their home and garden? Eden. The food? Delicious. The company? Delightful. We were four adults, but this would truly fit anyone and any age … I am so grateful we stumbled across their listing amongst everything else one can do in the Algarve, and I really hope others get to what we experienced. Our children (5 and 13) really enjoyed it too...not just the but the cats and dogs, chickens and ducks. Beautiful setting with clearly very cared for and loved donkeys. We were educated by Ivan about but also about the various fruits and trees they have in their garden. At the end of the tour, we were treated with a most delicious cooked by Sandra. We were made to feel really welcome and actually felt a bit like we were visiting friends! Definitely highly recommended. Iwan and Sandra are hosts who go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Iwan took us on a wonderful donkey ride through the local villages, sharing his knowledge of the and has plenty of stories to tell to keep you entertained throughout your trip. When you return you are greeted by Sandra who is just an host. Refreshments are served and while guests are allowed to take a drip in their natural pool she cooks up the most delicious dishes that just keep coming. Both were so sweet! Iwan was so funny and had so much knowledge of all the surrounding area, fruit, homes, and of course donkeys! It is very obvious all of their are greatly loved and cared for. The Iwan made us was spectacular. He went above and beyond what either of us expected. Their home and farm is absolutely stunning. If I could come back tomorrow and the next day, I would! I couldnt get more grateful for Iwan and Sandra. This was the best thing we did across Portgual, from top to bottom. on this little oasis. We had the best time on this and loved the and natural swimming pool. The food was absolutely delicious (some of the best we’ve had in Portugal) — we left feeling full and happy! He is such a genial host and made me, hubby and girls (5 and 8) feel so welcome. He brought the local area to life with his knowledge and stories, and the food and drink far exceeded expectations - sooooo delicious! We loved having a dip in the natural pool and meeting their too. Oh and the donkeys! We rode (and guided!) Jeropiga, Eal and Pedro who were incredibly gentle and gave us the most wonderful memories. Ivan tappade all kontroll o skällde ut och förolämpade oss å det grövsta! Barnen plockade 3 citroner som fallit till marken, vi bad om ursäkt för detta. Jag besökte toaletten, och hittade sedan inte direkt till utgången från huset. Beskylldes för att gå omkring i hans hem helt utan skam, han hade inte upplevt något liknande under sina 10 år. Så fullständigt ignorant och respektlöst! Och att plocka hans citroner, som han använde till sin välkomstdrink! Vi var inte vatten värda! Så åker du dit, se till att inte reta upp honom, så kanske du får en ok upplevelse..... An absolute must do, if you are visiting the Algarve. It was such a unique and experience. Iwan hosted us (our 2 young adults and my wife and I). He was charming and it was such an informative tour, learning so much about the local culture and natural habitat. The were incredible. It is probably the best value for dollar (Euro) that you can possibly get. A stop at a local cafe and then a of Tapas (hardly small plates) at the end. If you find yourself in the area, this is a must do! Wat een geweldige ervaring bij Donkey Tours Algarve! Samen met onze drie zoons hebben we een prachtige tocht gemaakt met de ezels. Al bij aankomst voelden we ons welkom door de hartelijke ontvangst van Iwan en Sandra. Voordat we op pad gingen, nam Iwan uitgebreid de tijd om ons te vertellen over de omgeving en de geschiedenis — super boeiend, ook voor de kinderen! De wandeling met de ezels was rustig, afwisselend en echt genieten van de natuur. Na afloop hebben we heerlijk gegeten, alles vers en met zorg klaargemaakt. En alsof dat nog niet genoeg was, sloten we af met een verfrissende duik in het natuurzwembad. Een perfecte afsluiting van een dag vol mooie herinneringen. How fortunate were we that Iwan, Antonio, and the farm welcomed us into their paradise! We learned a lot about the Algarve region vegetation while hiking. We learned that are a truly animals! Lastly, oh la la, was the best meal we’ve had yet in Algarve! Let’s not forget that Iwan doubled as Steven Spielberg in photography! First off the host, Iwan, is a gracious man with a talent for storytelling interspersed with cultural and natural history as well as funny anecdotes and stories. You’re welcomed to his home and property where he has an animal rescue sanctuary, dogs, cats, chickens, and of course donkeys! It’s a paradise. We went on a walk through the rural country side among olive and almond trees, fields of lavender and wildflowers and into the town as well. You lead the donkey while your companion rides and you can alternate at various times. After the riding portion we arrived back to the farm and Iwan and his wife treated us to an and ample lunch. They are kind, welcoming, and make you feel at home. We ate, chatted with our other couple, ate some more, drank, ate, drank, repeat, basically relaxed for the afternoon. I highly suggest this or choose another one of the offerings, either way you won’t be disappointed! Thank you !! A FANTASTIC experience! We went on a wonderful donkey with our four sons. The were sweet and patient, the surroundings were stunning, and the owner shared fun and interesting stories along the way. After the tour, we enjoyed a delicious homemade with fresh farm products. My husband and our three teens visited Sandra’s incredible donkey farm during our visit to the Algarve and it was an absolute highlight of our trip! This is a MUST DO activity! Sandra was the most gracious host, and the she provided us turned out to be our favorite meal for the entire trip to Portugal!! The food was so fresh (right out of her garden) and made with love! Our guide, Antonio, was extremely friendly and polite, but also knowledgeable and very helpful. Their whole farm is an absolutely paradise on Earth. Between all the many who somehow live in harmony (dogs with cats with chickens?!!), the gorgeous scenery, the tranquil pool…we could have stayed there all week!
