We spent one night and dinner was not great, same with breakfast… I guess they make way better food for full price, and whatever is included, well… it’s not just good, it’s enough. Rooms were ok, your typical room with 6/8 people with bunk beds… it was ok… Staff was very nice, and this place had a drinkable water, therefore there was no need to pay for it… On the other hand, 500 mb of WiFi cost a 1 euro, not sure what is the idea behind this limitation… Why, can some one explained it to me? Are we back to 1995 with dial up modems and blank CD’s for 20$? Overall, very nice place with some strange pricing for the internet. Thank you Pramperet was a godsend after getting drenched in a thunderstorm, but its a very basic rifugio. The rooms are separate from the main building so they're fairly cold. There isn't much space to hang wet clothes. But, it's all worth it! The vibe is so unique, the food is good, and it's positioned well on the trail. When we arrived, we reminded the staff that we're vegan. We had informed them when booking, but they were still unpreprared when we arrived and the chef was rolling his eyes when we reminded them that we're vegan. The food we were served for dinner was a joke, we got a small portion of polenta with mushrooms but there were no spices, no oil, no sauce just polenta with steamed mushrooms. In contrast, others have received much bigger non-vegan meals. The bunk beds were quite shaky. On the plus side, there is a that one can use for free as long one is ok with a cold shower. The staff were friendly until you asked for things. Couldn't check in until 3pm. Doesn't make sense given most people check out before 9am to start hiking... Obviously location limits what is available however given bookings you'd assume they would have enough to cater those who have booked in. 5 euro for 3 minute shower. Can only from 330pm, obviously this creates a line issue...surely theres a better way to manage this - like give out a schedule/assign times to people who purchase a token. Most expensive and shortest along the alta Via 1. Menu suggests having items however asked for them they weren't available - perhaps given recency of opening again for the season? Questionable food hygiene practices - meat out overnight - covered by cling wrap with holes / containers loosely on top. The property houses two cats who could easily get up into the food... Power out at 10pm and not back on until breakfast. Breakfast very dismal affair. No yoghurt, no eggs. Very limited array. Stale cakes. Bread rations - we were told 2 x slices per person for breakfast however our bread basket only had 1.5 slicesper person. When we requested more we were informed that noone had issues with the bread ration system last week.. They did eventually give us one more slice of bread each. Dinner was slightly less dismal - the mushrooms and polenta wasn't particularly substantial- given the walk to and from that particularly Refugio are quite long and it was our 7th day so we were all pretty hungry. The room also was quite problematic- the way the room is set up doesn't allow the ladders to be used safely. The place is magic ! The rifugio is in the middle of a beautiful valley, epic scenery, very nice people that served outstanding food. The cake with ricotta and chocolate was just like patisserie! The is basic but works very well and is hot. The staff was very helpful and friendly and made our stay very pleasant. I am surprised by all this negative comments. This is mountain, touristic shelter, not a hotel. As it should be. It is true that some rifugios have higher standard but they are more like hotels indeed. Accomodation is basic but everything is clean. Food is fresh and tasty. Breakfast is sweet but this is Italian speciality and we know it. Is the staff rude? Not at all, they do what they supposed to do. Just without throwing plastic smiles like every waiter does. It has everything what tourist/trekker/hiker needs. And yes, it is basic and simple, but this is hiking. Big plus for taste of music. Despite the narratives of other hikers we were completely satisfied with the service of the young people of this refuge. Their humour and goodwill towards their guests was a real pleasure. Food was lovely, everything seemed well taken care of, the rooms fine and the atmosphere nice and relaxed with music and laughter 😃. Love to come back! Location is but we had a pretty disappointing experience at this rifugio. Lunch was expensive and when they served it to us it was frozen in the middle. we sent it back and they just heated it up and brought it back. We also got coffee and it was served in a small paper cup half filled. For dinner we ordered the pork chop and they served it to me still raw in the middle, this can make you very sick. we sent it back and they brought the same piece back, a bit more cooked on the outside but still raw in the middle. so we sent it back again and finally we got a new piece overcooked pork chop. we tried to talk to them but they would not do anything for us. this was the most expensive hut on our trek and we are very disappointed. the staff were unwilling to give us any sort of discount for our meal. had to send food back three times and only had two meals here… would not recommend.
