We were completely stunned by how big and high-quality the exposition is. It's a little gem. Plan more than 2 hours and if you have a boy, you're not getting out any time soon 😉 They even have a virtual gun shooting range. Loved this museum. Came across a sign on route to another destination. Upon return back to caravan we visited here. Loved the sign in with security and Loved seeing the camp with it being an active camp my kids loved seeing soldiers. The its self had plenty of parking and though being in a smaller building there was so much to see. Loved the peices on show. Especially loved the driving simulator and the shooting range. Staff were lovely and helpful and for a tenner per adult kids free a bargain and a cracking day out to be had. Surprised that it is actually on an army so the driver has to provide ID and a phone number. A very interesting museum, I learnt a lot. There is a lot of reading but any military fan would absolutely love it. Displays were engaging and well thought out. I actually enjoyed seeing all the displays dedicated to women and the one dedicated to animals that served during the wars. There were quite a few interactive stations., even a shooting gallery. Would recommend maybe for adults and older children. Met Jack and Ryan “The storyteller” in the shop, had a good conversation with them. They sadly are not in my #SconeAsIn Gone group! Anyway, the is worth a visit. Well worth a if you're in the area. Although smaller in size to Bovington Tank it's beautifully laid out and the process of entering a working army is well catered for by the security staff Excellent place and highly recommend a if communication, history etc interests you. You will need to park just outside the camp entrance and go in to present ID etc, if you are disabled display the badge and you can park closer. The is closed to the entrance, go straight there, lots of parking as well as disabled spaces. Entrance fee is very reasonable and the gift shop well stocked. There is a lift between the floors, there is a cafe that serves a great selection of food and freshly prepared if required. The exhibition is very well laid out and a good history. A very good layout in groups of the actual equipment which in itself is quite rare. I was quite surprised to see a Tele D Mark V set which I have. There are a number of excellent video history or explanation shows and have seats. There are also a number of interactive exhibits so you can check your knowledge on points of hacking to light up model of Pegasus bridge. All the staff were extremely polite and helpful Comprehensive history of the Royal Signals told with displays and a lot of radios! Technology covered includes visual signalling right through modern digital sat comms for special forces. A number of hands on exhibits including a driving simulator. Small cafe offering food and drinks. Gift shop. Toilets and friendly staff. If you're over 16 take photo ID to sign into Blandford Camp. Great museum! You require id (driving licence or passport) to get onto the base, so don't forget it. Great café, great artifacts and great tour! Good museum, not too large, takes about 3-4 hours. Nice staff, nice little shop. Slight hassle to get in seeing as it is located on military premises so ID/passport is required. A lovely visit. I really enjoyed the exhibits. Plenty for children to look at..maybe age 6 plus. Allow time to go through security...the driver needs photo id. Pretty nice little with plenty of hands on things to do. The staff were nice. Also not just wanted to say clean bathrooms but then it is a military so pretty on point. NOTE: you do have to present your ID and get a photo taken to enter. Came here today as have been wanting to go for ages. My dad was in the Signals and we used to live on the back in the 70's. First impressions were that it looked small from the outside but totally different once inside. We were actually the only ones in there, 3 of us, and unfortunately the cafe was shut the day we went but Nick who served us at reception we extremely helpful and made sure there were tea making facilities in the cafe area for when we wanted them and checked in on us as we were going round. The was very good and informative. My dad and husband both had areas where they were like "I used to work on that kit" and my dad even found his name on the wall of grades. A great day had by all. Check their website for admission requirements. The is located in an active army base, so photo ID is required by the front gate. The process was quick, painless and professional when I visited. They issue you with a photo ID and car ID, which must be handed in upon departure. A very nice, well presented for those with an interest in such things. It was very quiet at the time of my on a Sunday afternoon. The chap at the desk was friendly and seemed passionate about the place. That said, the cheeky bugger seemed to charge me as an OAP, so I guess I owe them £2 on my next visit. A couple of the displays were in need of a reboot, but other than that, the interactive exhibits were fun and informative. Whilst there is an emphasis on the military applications, the covers the history of radio technology in general rather well.
